Alberta’s #Budget2025 should have prepared for this. Instead, it overlooked Calgary’s rapid growth and failed to provide the investments we need to attract and retain talent, while pushing property taxes even higher .

We’re thriving in tech and innovation in agrifood, energy and financial services – I’ve seen and helped those companies grow. But resilience and innovation won’t be enough this time. We need leadership that invests in Calgary’s future - in housing, infrastructure and transit.

Calgary workers and business will take a direct hit in the face of tariffs. The Canadian Chamber reports that we will be the second hardest hit city in Canada, with our energy sector taking the hardest hit. Calgarians have been smart in the last decade. We’ve taken steps to diversify our economy.

The backbone of Canada’s economy is built in its municipalities. Cities like Calgary drive economic growth, innovation, and trade—fueling both small and large businesses. In the face of this punitive and unnecessary trade war with the United States we must come together.

Watching City Council today stub their collective toes again with rezoning. Hundreds of homes killed. One vote. The dysfunction of this Council must end -- they can't align even their own plans to move in one direction
