The boys came with me to campus today. After we went to the new Great Council State Park then stopped for a bit of ice cream and The Dairy Station in Xenia.

Was raking & this shoot was on the ground. It popped up fast recently & something knocked it over.

It’s the 1st shoot I’ve tasted since planting a few years ago & was 1 of the tastiest stalks of asparagus I’ve ever eaten. Looking forward to getting to harvest some more this year.

While I don’t intend to go through every document to check all their instances, my hope is that they see how reliant on it they may be and it will hopefully make them have to work just a little harder and slower for something that has been made far too easy and fast for them to use.

My students’ first essay is coming up and we went over my policy with them and I could see a clear look of concern on many faces of students who realized things just got a little less comfortable for their writing

This has landed on my most recent policy where they have to not only cite all instances of their use of AI throughout their essay and in their works cited, but I also ask for a document with screenshots of each time they request AI perform an action that shows their request and what it generates.

Instead of telling students not to do something they’re likely gonna do anyway, I have very open & honest conversations w/ them about it

We discuss why its use can be problematic & how it can be helpful

But I also hold them accountable for their use & have been revising my policy this semester

Anyone #teaching for the last couple years has likely been struggling with navigating #AI & its impact on the #classroom.

I have.

The more I work through it the more I have started to lean into it. The conversation is reminiscent of the Wikipedia crisis over a decade ago, but amplified.

I’ve been #reading a chapter or 2 out of the Lemony Snicket series to the boys most nights for the last couple years.

We finished the series tonight and it was a great, funny, fun story we really enjoyed together & I recommend sharing the experience with your kids in the 6-10 range. #lemonysnicket

Today is day one of Tech fest at Sinclair this is our third year going and the boys are into it every time. It’s a free event and is going until 5pm today and will be going on tomorrow as well.
