It has been nearly a year since Starbucks has offered us a single proposal to finish the remainder of our union contracts. The company knows where we stand: we need fair wages, better scheduling, and an end to union-busting.

Instead, Starbucks is fighting US, their workers.

Don't Buy Starbucks! At any location, today and beyond, while workers are on ULP strike!

Don't Buy Starbucks! At any location, today and beyond, while workers are on ULP strike!

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Hopefully most people will recognize these as scams but if you get a DM from "Bluesky" saying that your account was suspended and you need to click on some skeezy link to reinstate it, that is not how any of this works. You can report that account for impersonation.

Yeah. It would solve so many problems! But god forbid we teach people about risks and help them make good choices, instead of pretending the risky activities only affect Those Bad People Over There

Yeahh, I see some of them

I can see why people might have had a knee-jerk reaction, if they don't know your general stance on this kind of ban

But they really did zoom past the actual words you said, huh

13.11.2025 09:17 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah. Like, banning choking porn is not going to help anyone and will actively cause more harm

But we can argue against the ban without downplaying the risks involved in breath play.

As with most porn bans, my stance here is 'what if we tackled this issue by improving sex ed instead'

We’re taking on the EHRC interim guidance in court After more than six months of disruption unleashed by the EHRC’s guidance, we’re arguing at the High Court that it is legally flawed.

We're in court today and tomorrow, taking on the EHRC's (now withdrawn) interim guidance, issued in haste following the For (Some) Women Scotland decision.

In accordance with our general practice, we are publishing the Skeleton Arguments of the Parties. goodlaw.social/h3nw

Just tried. Its fucking AI.. its AWFUL. It doesnt even read the article its like trying to summarise it and have two fake ai voices have a conversation about the article?!

Spark Sessions: Virtual Co-Working Spaces for Tired Researchers Unapologetically pro-disability and intersectional virtual co-working sessions designed to give you the time and space you need to get your sh*t done.

We struggled to find virtual co-working spaces that built an understanding of disability, chronic illness and neurodivergence into their design, despite knowing we'd benefit hugely from it.

So we decided to set one up ourselves. Sign up to our next Spark Session here:

This is fascinating to me, because Oh Boy do I have internal thoughts

Doing a symptom diary for my PIP application has really hammered home how much time I waste on non-optionally Having Thoughts when I need to be Doing Things. Hours every day

I'm sure there are also upsides, but it sure is A Lot

*was considered a fast reader, once they realised I was in fact reading and not just looking at the pictures

After another child was like "*I* can read that book to you" and told me some absolute nonsense story they made up

And I was like "no actually it says this, give the book back thanks" πŸ˜‚

12.11.2025 12:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It explained a lot! I was considered a fast reader in primary school, but as I got older I found that other 'fast readers' were getting through books way faster than I could and I couldn't understand why.

I still slow down to read fiction though, often. It's nice to hear the characters' voices

12.11.2025 12:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It wasn't until a couple of years ago, when people were talking about 'bionic reading' on social media, that I realised not everyone is like this

And then I tried moving my eyes over the words without hearing the sounds in my head, and found that to be faster

12.11.2025 12:43 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah I have also been thinking about this today

I definitely never 'sounded out' the words aloud – I never read aloud unless teachers actively insisted, and did not find it helpful

But my default way of reading is to read each word to myself in my head, so I 'hear' it there instead

(going off my memory of Content Design, Second Edition by Sarah Winters. I can probably dig out references, if you would be interested)

Teaching people to read via the cueing method might also contribute to bad social media misunderstandings though! Just, there are other factors too

12.11.2025 07:22 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

People do also read differently online compared to when they're reading off paper, though

There are eye tracking studies that show this. When reading online, people's unconscious eye movements tend to skim down the first few words of each line rather than landing on every word.

12.11.2025 07:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

my patience has increased but I will say, it is ok to have trouble reading, it is not ok to scream at people for things you imagined they said because you can't read what they actually said

What if you don't, though

What if we kick the fascists out before they can do their worst

What if there are treatments coming that we don't know exist yet, and those help us to recover

What if things are tough for a while, but we look after each other and make it through, banged-up but alive
