🚨The most important graph in the world has another year of data, and it doesn't look good!🚨

NASA CERES satellites measure how much sunlight Earth absorbs and how much heat is radiated back to space.

The difference is heat accumulation, which has more than tripled!

How Palantir captured the Ministry of Defence

How a close read of public domain documents show how MoD was commercially colonised by Palantir

i've decided not to listen to the audio of a teacher reporting a kindergartender because frankly I don't want to become the person that that event would turn me into. but one thing I hope we are collectively coming to grips with is what it meant that we have lived among such people this whole time

1) Ban medication being prescribed because you say there is insufficient evidence to support it, even though it's prescribed internationally
2) Say you're going to set up a trial to get evidence that it's safe and effective
3) Pause that trial getting evidence because of "unquantified risk"

CW: sexual assault

Watching the Top Model documentary and seeing what happened to Shandi reminded me of how much the narrative in the 2000s was if you got drunk and were assaulted, it was not rape, it was β€œyour own fault”

So many people wouldn’t have called it rape or assault, but a β€œmistake”

Cyclists outnumbering drivers at rush hour on busy Glasgow road, as campaigners hail β€œcolossal” impact of safe cycle lanes - Cycling News | Bike Reviews | road.cc Glasgow – it’s just like Amsterdam. Or at least that’s the opinion of Cycling Scotland, whose latest traffic survey found that cyclists are outnumbering car drivers at rush hour on a busy road in the ...

What was that about cycling not taking off in cold, wet and hilly cities?
Turns out all you need is good safe space for cycling, but some of us have been saying that for a long time.

I keep hearing that the Epstein files are so big if we held everyone accountable everything would collapse. And no it wouldn’t. These rich guys don’t do any actual work. They aren’t actually important or useful they are just rich.

If you ever find yourself wondering how things like the Epstein story happened, consider the mid-level newspaper editor who admitted in a public judicial inquiry that he destroyed a woman’s life and drove her to suicide to try and impress Piers Morgan.

like I don't understand the technical details well enough to know whether AI really will be coming for all white collar jobs in the next year or five but if it is......we can just choose, as a society, to not do that? people need jobs? we don't have to destroy jobs for no reason?

Elon Musk is v invested in Rupert Lowe's political project - to reverse ethnic change {white "race extinction"] in Britain

"Our ancestral land must not fall"

"there has been unrelenting hate and poisonous propaganda in the West against anyone White, straight or male over the past decade or more!"

Nearly a year into many trans people in the UK being forced to use disabled toilets or asked to work from home pending legal advice and stuff and I haven't seen a single "Izzy's boss told her she has to use a disabled toilet, here's how she feels about it" piece in the papers.

β€˜Is university still worth it?’ is the wrong question The graduate earnings premium isn’t really measuring what most people think

Turns out (says @jburnmurdoch.ft.com) it's not so much an oversupply of graduates in the UK (the same would be true of other similar countries but it's not) as an undersupply of the kind of jobs that a better-performing, more productive economy would supply.

Victim-blaming never helps. We’re rightly appalled when it happens in crime such as sexual assault β€” and we should be equally horrified when it happens in road danger. Stop blaming those harmed. Focus on dangerous drivers & build a culture that respects cycling & the wider benefits of active travel.

Yeah, US Olympians are woke. Deal with it. Sports have always been political β€” it's just a question of who's speaking out.

"Unlike the 'meritocracy' they are trying to build in which white men are restored to their proper dominance, the Olympics are pretty close to a true meritocracy. Conservatives can’t whine that Simone Biles or Chloe Kim must have gotten their spots by pushing aside a more 'qualified' white athlete."

The medical model of disability is harmful, sure, but Im not sure the moral/religious model of disability doesn't come a close second.
Im not a parent, but this feels monstrous to me.

I would have hoped by now that some dude would have written an op Ed about how straight women’s reaction to Bad Bunny - a man at peace with himself, emoting publicly + queer culture - underscores that the Manosphere bros are performing heterosexuality for other men and have no idea what women like.

Reform UK suspends by-election campaign activist over β€˜antisemitic and misogynistic’ posts EXCLUSIVE: Adam Mitula, Reform UK’s interim campaign manager in Tameside, has been assisting Matt Goodwin's Gorton and Denton by-election campaign

So it turns out Matt Goodwin's Reform campaign manager was a holocaust-denying Nazi who said he would "never touch a Jewish woman.”

When do we start seeing all the coverage of the antisemitism crisis in Reform UK?

Still can't get over how there's a whole civilization with a capital city at least as big as Pompeii buried deep under miles of volcanic rock from the biggest eruption in like 10,000 years on Lombok in Indonesia and all we know about them is that they existed till they were destroyed

Of all the things we are doing in MN, this one is just beyond. Imagine being released from hell alone in the cold. And a total stranger has waited all night with a blanket just to be ready to hug you and carry you home. Every job we do is crucial, but this one is what restores humanity and dignity.

Tennessee Gubernatorial Candidate Wants Death Penalty for Abortion Patients 2.18.26

I've said it before and I’ll say it again: their extremism is getting more explicit by the day. Punishing womenβ€”which used to be an untouchable issue within the anti-abortion movementβ€”is now being discussed freely.

"Is there technology the left is excited about?" is the kind of question you only ask if you're wildly naive about technology.

mRNA vaccines. Heat pumps. Offshore wind. Urban mining. Sodium batteries.

But god forbid we're not fawning over every new implementation of Making Computers Bad At Math.
