Haven't posted much non-wildlife on here, so here's a landscape. Carew Castle in Wales.
Taken with one foot in the river and one cheek in a gorse bush π

Thanks π. Canon R5 with the 200-800mm. It also had the 1.4x attached, although it wasn't needed for this shot.

Tried and failed (many times) to get a good photo midair but was happy when this one settled for a few seconds close to the hide.

Puffin on Skomer Island, Wales. Taken 27th July.
A record 43,000 on the island this year but I went late season and only got up-close (relatively) to half a dozen of them.

There were 43,000 on the island this year but the boats for peak season sell out well in advance and probably only a few hundred were left on Sunday when I visited. I'd walked 80% of the circumference before I saw my first ever one up close.
I normally see herons nearly every time I visit my local park but in summer the overgrown banks hide the river from view. Was happy to see this one in Morden Hall Park instead, and such a good location in the fading evening light.

Peregrine falcon chicks practicing their hunting moves on each in the sky over south London yesterday evening. After a long wait I only had 10 minutes with them before the sun set and the light disappeared.

A bit of sibling rivalry between 2/4 peregrine falcon chicks that hatched on the roof of the Merton Civic Centre. I've been following their progress on webcam since the day they were laid (and other broods in previous years) but this was my first sighting in real life. Shame they prefer the shade!

Canada goslings in Morden Hall County Park. I love the lighting effects from overexposing the shaded chicks against the bright sunlit lawn in the background.

Just after I took this a moorhen did a frantic 10m sprint across the water in pursuit of the grey heron. Subsequent action was obscured by the leaves but the moorhen emerged with a beak full of feathers! A short stand-off, before the heron backed down and went to fish elsewhere.

For years I've struggled to get a clear shot of a Jay despite them being relatively common. Preferring to hide in the branches and leaves, and rarely staying in one place for long, I was amazed when this one posed for me in the open for a full 5 minutes.

A relatively long exposure of a swarm of flies skimming the surface of the river through a patch of sunlight. I could calculate that each wing flaps about 90 times per second.

White-headed duck. Presumably named so because the blue-billed duck was discovered first and there were no other white-headed ... Nope, still doesn't make sense to me π
Anyway, this one was pretending to be a bug-eyed puffer fish.
