This one might be weird to some because "Civil Defense" has basically been dead in Canada and the USA since the 1960s.

Ireland, Germany, and Singapore all have Civil Defense type organizations that we should really be copying, because the current ad-hoc approach isn't working.

More allegations surface about dive company that left men behind in water The ABC has uncovered allegations of two more incidents where Perth Diving Academy customers were rescued by passing boats after drifting away from their dive boat, claims the company disputes.

As a professional diver, this is horrifying on so many levels. Not the least of which is the fact that the dive company doesn't have records of incidents.

They were big on making noise about it but short on actually addressing the issues in the trades with apprenticeship that were maintaining those numbers. I had a lot of friends fighting to get hours and sign-offs because employers wanted to avoid paying journeyman wages.
