Got a play of Age of Comics in with @dupthedodger.bsky.social and Adam last night. Clever worker placement games about publishing and selling comics. Loved the production with all the unique comic titles.

Beautiful game and nicely thematic but lots and lots of rules and rule book consulting and weird-little-tiny rules. Also, bonuses for days.
11.07.2025 13:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social Unconscious Mind with irl Tim. So dreamy.

I get it, but it still hurts
27.06.2025 18:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes! The production is excellent (chip theory) and the art is electric (Manny Trembley, also the designer).
23.06.2025 16:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social So far Wroth seems excellent. Fun dice draft, light rule set, easy to grasp asymmetric cultures and beautiful production!

Playing 4-handed to get the rules down which is usually boring, but I've been eager to keep coming back. Interested to hear your thoughts!

The poker chips were an option in the Kickstarter. I LOVE them. They're denominated (1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100) which was a turn off for some, but a bonus for me, pretty, hefty and I bought two sets, which should cover most situations. I have the iron clays too. Not sure if I can pick a winner.
17.06.2025 04:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This one is excellent, btw. Heavier than Smartphone & lighter than Hegemony with similar vibes.
17.06.2025 00:57 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Today's podcast episode features Inis.
We also discuss recent plays of Modern Art, Cribbage, and Bomb Busters.

We donβt post non-boardgame stuff often but we do appreciate democracy and oppose kings so the BGHT crew was glad to be a part of the anti-fascism, anti-dictator, anti-monarch protests today. Long Beach, CA pictured here.
14.06.2025 21:41 β π 83 π 2 π¬ 3 π 0@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social Tycoon: India 1981. Economic entanglement with some very combo-y action selection amidst the backdrop of the Indian industrial revolution.
14.06.2025 02:28 β π 23 π 3 π¬ 4 π 0So a conflict of interest between the two?
10.06.2025 22:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hey I think I killed this discussion on accident, tried to revive it a thread up, because it's good. So bad at social media right now.
10.06.2025 22:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hey Chris deleted my original post, but want to revive, because you're right, the oaths are different and your comment was excellent--please repost
10.06.2025 22:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yep, just read that--deleted my comment, it seems essentially the same? Legally the same?
10.06.2025 22:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Anyone with a law degree know when this kicks in? Any definition of that term? Are Oaths symbolic only, or somehow enforceable?
10.06.2025 20:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For context, here's the oath taken by every military officer in the United States: "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
10.06.2025 20:04 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is what a "domestic enemy" looks like. Important phrase for military leaders.
10.06.2025 19:37 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Cheers to @2muchenthusiasm.bsky.social for these amazing new thumbnails!
19.05.2025 19:14 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Of those you mentioned, I've only played Biohack. But I agree, this publisher's catalogue is excellent.
29.04.2025 14:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's fun! Interesting choices, thinky puzzle, slick system and beautiful art.
