Which makes me wonder ... was she signing menus for her fans? Was signing a menu a symbolic act of the times? Now you understand why I constantly fall down internet holes.

Google has destroyed the ability to search for authoritative, accurate information, but today I learned (?🤔) that Neapolitan ice-cream does in fact refer to Naples & Italians' love of layering flavours. According to Wikipedia, it used to be red (cherry), white (vanilla) & green (pistachio). #food 🇮🇹

Think it was Charlotte Despard, novelist, activist, a leader of the Women's Freedom League, all-round boss. Suffragettes were celebrating the passage of Representation of the People Act #foodhistory

A handwritten recipe and a pear. The recipe reads: Zucchini slice 360 gram (about 4 or 5) zucchini 1 onion 3 rashers bacon 1 cup grated cheese 1/2 cup s.r. flour 1/2 cup oil 5 eggs Wash and grate zucchini. Chop onion and bacon. Add other ingredients. Mix well. Bake moderate oven 35-40 mins until brown on top. Note: Google says "A moderate oven typically refers to a temperature range of 177-191°C (350-375°F)."

August 8 is National Zucchini Day, or if you prefer, National Courgette Day! Remembered I have this amongst my mother-in-law's old recipes. She would have VERY MUCH appreciated this joke:
