The 2026 budget passback plan calls for eliminating NOAA Research, the scientific backbone that keeps weather forecasts, alerts, and warnings accurate and effective. This would have disastrous consequences.

It's legitimately painful anytime I go back on the other site. There's enough weather and sports here now I'm on 90%, but still short on commodities posts that keep me on twitter the rest of the time

It's been so frustrating! It already takes ages to download the entire hourly era5 dataset, now it's almost impossible even with constant babysitting

Tropical SST pattern interesting between 2013 and this year... I know Paul has mentioned this warm/cool dateline split before in potential for central/eastern US cold patterns. But North Pac SSTs different (although I don't subscribe less to the influence of non-trop SST feedbacks)

We have an enterprise license through work, but personal licenses are extremely reasonable. I can't recommend enough StormVista as a platform for detailed forecast analysis

Seems we're also seeing the impacts from the very strong stratospheric Polar Vortex reflecting anomalous wave activity from the unusually amplified tropospheric North Pacific pattern. @simonleewx.com did you guys find that a stronger PV increases the likelihood of these wave reflection events?
