I heard there's a Nintendo Direct next week, and a HD remaster of Amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits will be announced!

Preferences: No overcomplicated Notion templates, but if we can EASILY set it up to make a new shopping list each Wednesday with a basic set of staples pre-filled, that would be good. Must be usable without significant ongoing management.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a shared notes app for a family that works across iOS and Android at a minimum?

Requirements: need to be able to make a weekly shopping list, and ideally share some other notes occasionally.

A screenshot from Donkey Kong Bananza. Donkey Kong, a large gorilla, here coloured pink and blue in a gradient pattern, wearing suspenders and a garish yellow and pink bow tie stands next to Pauline, a 13-year-old girl wearing a novelty crown shaped like a burger and a pink letterman jacket. Pauline has a hand on DK’s arm as they look off into the distance.

Look at us, so big and small #DonkeyKongBananza

You know, I still don’t really know what Severance is about, so I like to imagine it’s about belly buttons.

A related position: I think you should be allowed to unpack all the excess packaging from a product you buy and leave it in the supermarket. The fact of the matter is β€œJust buy less packaging” is not actually a solution when they don’t MAKE things with less packaging.

It should be easier for a person on a limited income to decide β€œI only need 4 packets this week” for a product rather than β€œDo I get a six-pack I can’t afford, or none because they don’t sell it loose?”

This is both a food waste thing AND a packaging waste thing. But it’s also an economic inequality thing.

I have this radical political position that all products in supermarkets should be sold per unit weight/volume/item, and that it should not be legal for a pre-packaged version of an item to be cheaper than that item sold loose.

The two-authority proposal is just bizarre and includes a part where they outright admit that it’s flawed and would need amending shortly after coming into being.

However, if Suffolk goes to three authorities, there is a strong argument for Norfolk also going to three to balance the composition of the N&SMCCA.

I suspect the government will opt for one authority because it is the logistically simplest and there is now precedent for doing so with the recent reorganisation of North Yorkshire.

While I personally think three authorities is the right solution, especially with the expanded Greater Norwich in the proposal (though I would personally argue that Greater Norwich should also include Wymondham),

I think the one-authority and three-authority proposals both have some merit.

One of them is a bizarre barely-coherent proposal put together by a rogue council, including a weird strawman argument against an imagined version of one of the other two proposals.

Skimming through the three proposals for local government reorganisation in Norfolk…

Two of these proposals are broadly sensible ideas that reflect realistic but different ways of achieving legitimate goals.

A funny thing about the YouTube No Translation extension is that it breaks title A/B testing. Quite often once the API calls go through, the titles on my homepage change.

You know, as well as my no-translation extension for YouTube, I ABSOLUTELY need one that fixes timestamps. β€œOne year ago” meaning between 365 and 731 days old is USELESS.

God, YouTube is SO MUCH more usable now I have a no-translate extension installed.

I’ve played the demo twice, and I warmed to it more the second time, but I’m still uncertain.

I think the demo doesn’t quite give you a feel for what overall gameplay is like, because there’s a distinct lack of encounters with other characters in SL100. Are there more complicated gameplay moments than just β€œsmash this bit”, and is that satisfying? I’m not sure.

3 - All of that said, I’m still not sure how I feel about it? I enjoy the mechanics way more than I expected to, but I also feel like there might not be enough meat on those bones for it to be worthwhile as a purchase for me yet?

The only times things have significant wind-up are specific charged moves, and significant end-lag only really happens on actions that begin pseudo-cutscenes and major changes of world state, which makes a lot of sense. The everyday actions are really snappy and responsive.

13.09.2025 06:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I understand that big attacks often need significant wind-up time and endlag to make them β€˜feel’ weighty’… But I’ve always found it really hard to enjoy those effects, because I find the start-up and endlag disorienting. None of that issue here.

2 - On a similar note, a thing I’ve always found really annoying is perceived input delay when doing β€œweighty” things in games.

I’ve tried the #DonkeyKongBananza #NintendoSwitch2 demo now, and I have some thoughts, but they’re not very specific.

1 - My concerns about screen shake were thankfully unfounded. Firstly, it’s a settings option, but secondly the default level of screen shake is barely anything at all.

I know it’s just part of the YouTube meta these days, but when a video keeps coming across my suggestions but the title and thumbnail change every time, I feel like it makes me LESS likely to click on it.
