If she actually "professed love" then you dodged a bullet as it's a weird thing to do. I mean, "hey, fancy a drink?" or something a bit lower stakes and normal.

07.08.2025 15:35 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1It wasn't really the riots that ended the poll tax, it was that so many people didn't pay it, it had to be abandoned, and a different route taken to raise money to pay for services.
Which is the lesson in all things really - find the route to cost people money, and you get listened to sharpish.
Finding out it's made up would be a perfectly good outcome of investigating it.
It is a weird story that doesn't reflect well on her, I could imagine someone telling on someone but if it ended up with an expulsion you'd be horrified and morally conflicted it about how it turned out.
I hope some journalist rises to this and digs the person out and finds out how much she damaged his life.
07.08.2025 14:00 โ ๐ 15 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0A thing I wish someone had photographed was mid 80s computer game shops. Not saying no photos exist, but you know, a proper photography project where someone toured the country. You don't really know what is ephemeral until it's not there.

07.08.2025 11:39 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Remake Hollywood movies now that the US has a secret police that abducts people off the street and takes them to detention centres outside the the law

06.08.2025 20:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah it's part nostalgia for me. My mum was always doing stuff like this went I was a kid. Keep the old traditions alive.
06.08.2025 13:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm making a lemon sugar wash - or alcoholic lemonade. It's boozy, it has a serious kick, and it's very easy. It's also the first stage of moonshine but I'm not going to the second stage as that's not legal and even if it was, it's loads of effort.
06.08.2025 13:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Brewing/baking/jam making is a great hobby in that people around me actually *want* the output, which I can't say has ever really been the case with my guitar playing.
06.08.2025 13:29 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Buying booze in the supermarket is streaming TV: too easily available and you have too much and you end up a bit fed up with it.
Brewing booze is analogue broadcast TV where you wait a week for your favourite show and really appreciate it.
HE SAID WITH THE POMPOSITY OF A NEW HOBBY.
Ginger beer is very easy and good. Go for it.
06.08.2025 13:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah I posted the wrong one. You caught it in the few seconds that was live.
06.08.2025 13:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's sugar wash with lemon. The end result is basically boozy lemonade.

06.08.2025 11:25 โ ๐ 28 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 32 ๐ 2Thinking about seeing The Naked Gun, and I probably will, but it's weird thinking about buying a ticket to a jolly American cop comedy at a time where there's literal US secret police abducting people off the street. There's cognitive dissonance in Hollywood carrying on as normal and us enjoying it
06.08.2025 10:40 โ ๐ 90 ๐ 8 ๐ฌ 8 ๐ 1My Paul Weller theory is that he actually became a better songwriter in the 90s as someone sat him down, maybe a producer, and told him him not to stuff so many words per second into his songs. He always had the talent, but suddenly he wasn't gabbling and the stuff flowed better.
06.08.2025 09:13 โ ๐ 21 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 7 ๐ 0It's all back to why AI stuff is crap. When we can say "a human did that?!" we are filled with awe.
06.08.2025 09:05 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was in the Portishead and Massive Attack camp but it doesn't mean I haven't got ears and can't hear Supersonic is an exciting track partly because of the drums
05.08.2025 16:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's funny but it's also dreadfully unfair. If you listen to that first album, that drummer was giving a lot of drive and energy to that band which they never had again.
