Proper classification will always be the most contentious and least important aspect of art.

It's the same with music. I know the problem of granular genres is largely a marketing thing, but after a while when I look at the hundredth subcategory of something my overall impression of the market's purpose is "I'm afraid I might one day have to hear a second song."

Sometimes I feel like there's no greater waste of time than debating whether a game fits a genre/subcategory or not. Is it a Soulslike? A Metroidvania? A JRPG? ...okay, but is it REALLY?

Is it good? Do you like it? Why? Tell me why! I'll worry about the specifics from there!
