yep, seconding all of this.

this leans way too close to "llms are just autocomplete" for my liking, and also conflates chatbots and the llms that power them. writers *should* be careful about saying llms "know" anything, for sure, but they'd be just as wrong nowadays saying chatbots are only autocompleting from training data.

not sure how robust it needs to be, but this 3d printed kit is like... $250 and seems pretty popular with folks doing machine learning training and tinkering. the kit has a $10 controller you could set aside, or piece together the BOM and prints yourself:

I just started reading this book to my kids – using my very best "robotic technical manual" voice – and they completely lost it. They would not let me stop reading it, and bedtime was a disaster... but that's a parenting issue I suppose.
