Grouchy old fart, enjoys books, birds, baroque music, alliteration and, of course, spiders (but then, who doesn’t?). Semi-skilled at a number of unimportant things like game-playing, computer surgery and natural history story-telling. Lazy.
Clamp top!

In fact, I think that the more they paid, the more kids should be allowed to cosplay as umps in that aisle. "More" in both senses of the word.
11.08.2025 17:26 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oh, baloney - it was impossible for any enemy to corrupt Donald Trump. His parents took care of that for them.
All our enemies had to do was to offer him money, and not even very much money.
It would have been even more popular if his name was Bob Skywalker, but then he wouldn't have been so whiny.
11.08.2025 17:21 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0You know, I learned as a mere boy that if a young woman wouldn't help me achieve "release", why, I could DIE.
Sounds like John Sauer still believes that. Or at least still believes that it will work if he says it loud enough.
1. Create a problem
2. Criminalize the problem
3. Punish the victims
4. Push through a half-assed solution which (a) costs more than preventing the problem, (b) doesn't work), and (c) funnels taxpayers' money to wealthy Republicans
This has been the GOP approach for a century and more.
Fish rots from the head.

Female Enoplognatha marmorata(?) with an endoparasite of some sort.
Some outdoor work (which has left me simply drenched with sweat after just a tiny effort) netted me a couple of interesting spots:
1. I interrupted on the porch, a spider wasp with this unfortunate Tigrosa helluo, and
2. an Enoplognatha marmorata(?) female with a hitchhiking endoparasite.
I love music with this sort of hypnotic bass line. This has always been one of my favorite TH songs.
11.08.2025 16:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I can vividly remember reading SciFi when I was a teenager that was already pretty far past its expiration date. There was even stuff in Analog that I wouldn't bother reading again, even if it was a gift.
And then there was the GORy type stuff that (imoatoistoco) was expired before it was printed.
I kind of like chatting with nice people who are suffering from dementia. Answering the same questions over and over is easy once you have the answer. I like easy.

11.08.2025 11:05 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It’s an almost irresistible urge many of us have: to define everything by our personal tastes and require everyone to follow, or at least agree. Like the urge to classify and slap labels on everything, it’s kind of a basic human drive. Useful to fight, of course, like so much, but we’re herd anims
11.08.2025 10:59 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Everyone has tradeoffs. We all choose what we want, what we tolerate and what we won’t accept. Personally, I’m just glad my wife tolerates what many wouldn’t because of one positive she thinks is important.
Cooking and cleaning are details. Who says those are her jobs, anyway?
To be fair, at our house, it’s always time for the Muppet Show.

I’m beginning to wonder if Kennedy hasn’t spent his whole life making an exhaustive list of the ways he could torture everyone, if only he could get the power to do so.
Let’s see, is he pestilence? Not war or death..
