We’ve leapt over a lot of red lines in the last week. But one I find most worrying is Trump/MAGA/ICE have ceased even pretending to claim some criminal pretext for cracking down on protected speech. It’s just straight up “if you criticize us, you’re getting throttled/arrested/disappeared.”

The world isn't silent on Gaza - this is by far the most vocal I have seen the general public on a political issue in my lifetime. I have also never seen a bigger difference between the anger of the public and the inaction of specific institutions and governments. That's the crucial disconnect.

I am still so, so upset about Belinda Chandra's storyline effectively ending with putting her in a box with a baby and then rewriting reality so she's barely more than a mother, with absolutely no setup. It just sucks.

I don’t think the show realizes the weird and ugly, ugly implications of a female character having motherhood (and presumably a pregnancy and childbirth?) unknowingly thrust upon her and that being presented as fine and good.

As much as I dislike The Timeless Children (probably more as it seems to forget how to be a drama), untethering the show from its emotional throughline from 2005-17 has been disastrous. It does not know what to do with itself and is caught in an endless loop of trying to reckon with it

Been chatting with friends tonight and came to the conclusion that Doctor Who is still suffering from the impact of Spyfall Part 2 and if it can’t escape it it will not recover
