I never had whatsapp, I've deleted my insta, and my facebook account is being deleted on the 19th when tiktok goes. I'm so intensely sad to be losing friends, pages, and groups l've loved being a part of on fb, I truly feel I'm cutting myself off from things and people I love and care about. Speaking as a mostly housebound individual, I'd be lying if I said I wasnt worried about my mental health moving forward. Facebook has been my biggest source of interaction with peers and loved ones for years now, but I just can't support meta anymore. Zuckerberg funneled a million bucks into re-electing a rapist who will benefit the rich while killing poor disenfranchised folks, and he's funding the war on tiktok to end our ability to gain pertinent and useful information. On top of all that he's making changes to the platform that will only further hurt marginalized groups. He doesn't deserve our memberships. He doesn't deserve our clicks and ad revenue. He doesn't deserve any nice things.

Meta on Tuesday announced sweeping changes to how it moderates content that will roll out in the coming months, including doing away with professional fact checking. But the company also quietly updated its hateful conduct policy, adding new types of content users can post on the platform, effective immediately. Users are now allowed to, for example, refer to "women as household objects or property" or "transgender or non-binary people as 'it,'" according to a section of the policy prohibiting such speech that was crossed out. A new section of the policy notes Meta will allow "'allegations of mental illness or abnormality when based on gender or sexual orientation, given political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality."
