Terrible idea.

I know everyone from here loves the CÉGEP system because nostalgia, but it’s seriously underfunded and it is inappropriately gatekeeping access to a University education, adding too many barriers.

Despite all the universities in Montreal, « the percentage of residents ages 25 to 64 in Montreal with a university degree rose from 33 per cent a decade ago to 43 per cent in 2024. But in Toronto and Vancouver, it rose to more than 50 per cent, catching up to the rate in the U.S. cities »

One of the things that could be improved: current regulations discourage development that will increase the frequency of sewer overflows. It favours greenfield development over infill development. Going towards a risk based framework that doesn't encourage sprawl would be good.

This is Ontario’s source water protection legislation. There is room for improvement, but it needs to be done right. I’m somewhat skeptical given the Ford government’s track record.
