Ugh - that sucks. Ours was a TCL - quality probably varies a lot between brands.

Our Roku TV was fine at first, then as the software got fancier while the hardware stayed the same, we saw performance start to degrade. So, we just picked up a Roku Streaming Stick for $50 and plugged it into a free HDMI port on the TV. Now it's working great again!

I wrote up my thoughts and experiences on desktop Linux after a 20 year absence. Also notes on the Framework 13 (not most recent) version. There's a big list of "if you this on Mac, here's what you can use on Linux" comparisons as well.

The worst arrogance of software engineers is that because they're clever in technology they're by extension clever in any other domain, so _obviously_ the other domains are unnecessary and "non-technical."

100% agree. They feel like a good solution when you're writing them, but not so much if you're maintaining them, particularly in a large app that you didn't write.

I second what @seanofthedev.bsky.social said - deciding which tool to reach for in a given context takes some time to learn. I always have this sneaking suspicion that I'm not doing it right 😄
