Today's good news,
Louise has decided to reissue #MrsNarwhal'sDiary
Loved this book. Funny, touching, and I could relate to all the very real characters. It definitely deserves to be better known.

Thank you, Linda. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The novel does deserve to be widely read and loved and I'm pretty sure it would be had a Big 5 publisher brought it out and spent a lot on marketing! Alas, that's unaffordable for a tiny press like mine x

Pleased to say I'm continuing my novel on S**stack this Wednesday. I took a six-week break due to my dad getting ill and passing away. This morning I finished the next episode. I find I have a new relationship with this novel... which I'll explore in this week's novel notes x
22.09.2025 08:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And of course in her day there were no/fewer cars or buses so everywhere must have felt further away. The hamlet even now is quite isolated geographically, but only a ten minute car trip to the nearest town, Brackley.
13.09.2025 07:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As a kid it felt a long way but my dad drove to work there every day. The building of the M40 had a big impact on local transport. The roads have changed a lot in the Banbury/Brackley/Bicester area so much over the last few decades... Flora would be astounded!
13.09.2025 07:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I see a lot of this in my editing work. One of my common notes to writers is βMove this backstory to later in the novel?β or βCut this backstory? We barely know this character so for now we just need to see her in action.β
13.09.2025 06:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I read it as a teenager when I lived in the actual Lark Rise, Juniper Hill. I lived in a cottage there from 1977 to 1993 with my mum, dad and brother. I was inspired to be a writer knowing Flora had lived there and written such an important memoir. Must read it again soon!
11.09.2025 05:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Pile of paperbacks of Mrs Narwhal's Diary by SJ Norbury, spines out. One copy sitting on top face out. Background is a green, blue and yellow floral cushion.
Signed copies of Mrs Narwhal's Diary by SJ Norbury are now available at my website. Beautiful book inside and out. You don't often see the sister-in-law relationship in fiction, and it's sensitively explored in this novel... please share!

Paperback copy of Mrs Narwhal's Diary by SJ Norbury with pink flowers and foliage on cover and for real in the photo. Very pretty and fresh-looking. This book is also available as an audio book.
One of the best novels you haven't yet read is on #KindleUnlimited at the moment! Mrs Narwhal's Diary by SJ Norbury is charming, funny, and heartwarming, exploring beautifully a tender sister-in-law relationship...

19.06.2025 14:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Can't believe I'm saying this, but it's Publication Day! #wildmoonrising is officially out in there in the wild... I'm a writer a little lost for words, to be honest - I'm stunned, proud, slightly terrified and a whole lot happy. This took A LOT of years, so I hope it inspires you, too x

When I ran my indie press I paid four times a year, every three months. Never skipped a payment. I wasn't crowd-funding and worked my arse off to pay to publish my authors' books. If crowdfunding, there is no reason to not be able to pay royalties.

My latest novel is serialised every Wednesday in 2025. #ownvoices authenticity. I am #workingclass and my novel is inspired by my family, my background, my life.
