I'll take amethyst all year long even though I was born in April. I'll also take a blue diamond, thank you.

16.02.2026 10:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That this book even exists is horrific. That it is available in 58 public libraries is ninth level of hell territory!

13.02.2026 17:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've just fitted a new dual speed focuser to my Skywatcher 200P. Very easy job, just 20 mins with a screwdriver and 7mm socket. Everything lines up and #collimation is barely affected. This should make focusing easier.

It is such a scam! Not much different to selling plots on the Moon.
I prefer a photograph of the Moon, taken on that special day.
If the Olympic Committee hadn't banned him, most of us would know nothing of this. Well done to the Olympic Committee for providing the extra publicity. Shame on them for being so needlessly petty!
12.02.2026 14:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The upcoming #annular #solar #eclipse, 2026 02 17, will be visible from Antarctica. Partial phases may be seen from Argentina, Chile and southern Africa, including Botswana and Madagascar.

22% obstruction, not 22 mm, of course!
11.02.2026 22:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You are absolutely correct (on both counts!). My apologies for the error and thank you for the correction.

Disclaimer: my findings have not been peer reviewed, although my cat agrees.
PS. I don't actually have a cat!
Is that six? Out of a total of how many school shootings?
11.02.2026 16:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Skywatcher have just launched a new 200mm f/10 Mak-Cass with a flat field of 44mm dia with just 22mm central obstruction. The central spot is cut into the meniscus, so it could be a Rumak. Selling at Β£1499 it offers good value.

10.02.2026 11:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0SpaceX is to focus settlement plans on the Moon, instead of Mars. Unless we have legislation, we could see the Moon's face change as the night part lights up and buildings proliferate. Get imaging it, now, to preserve a record of its natural appearance.

Width: 109 metres
Length: 73β74 metres
Height: ~20β45 metres
Pressurized Volume: ~1,000β1,200 cubic metres
Mass: Approximately 420,000 to 450,000 kg.
