โSmall ballโ: โa strategy for progressing towards a goal by proceeding in small steps or by addressing small mattersโ (Webster defn)
We can either persist w the incantation that weak regulation/antitrust alone will deliver us choice & economic agency, or redirect to something else. Infrastructure.
Am neither but agree on the sentiment. Regulators donโt self flagellate at all btw, as long as corporates suck up to them. But yeah, industry needs to stop complaining and move.
22.09.2025 17:57 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0No alas. The prophecy has been fulfilled. Itโs all a โside dishโ now. Go build please.

Letโs get everyone upset in the European Antitrust Bubble.
We had massive political consensus behind digital antitrust and regulation for 15 years and we have not achieved a bean.
Just stop the magical thinking.

Nearly a year pushing #EuroStack, #DigitalSovereignty makes it to Franco-German Economic Agenda.
Chest-puffing fake-belligerence on digital regulation will not build us an #infrastructure.
Hope this is more than โhundred millions for meetingsโ. Digital is a critical industry like energy & defence
Soooo. Digital regulation isnโt over, is it? Europeans rejoicing โyay us! No concessions on digital in trade negotiations! Enforcement will be back after the summer break!โ Our lack of comprehension of whatโs going on is truly astounding.
26.08.2025 03:41 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Oh I totally agree. Burying head in the sand is what I am calling outโฆ
13.08.2025 15:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh true. European tech largely has itself to blame for being marginalised. Many companies are dinosaurs whingeing endlessly its customersโ fault for not buying their products. Not that their products often suck. So not all the fault of institutions. Much of industry is super inert. Compound effect.
12.08.2025 22:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Europeans are way better than our elites. And no one says these things straight, all at once.
12.08.2025 20:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thoughts on Europeโs predicament. The tariff debacle is bad as submissions go, but weโre fighting trade wars on two fronts: Chinaโs Second Shock is on us. Yet European elites are in denial & we lack policy responses at every level @sandertordoir.bsky.social

Chicken and egg. Vicious circle. Why am I talking to the EC on Teams? Happy to discuss but not on here, diminishing returnsโฆ.
19.07.2025 07:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Happy to. VCs have an agenda of their own though. Exit. And startups are not the whole scene. We have a completely hollowed out middle stack which either is just US or not. We need both. Building European tech just on non European infrastructure is a problem. Need both. I am not anti us tech.
19.07.2025 07:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Okay. Not giving up though.
18.07.2025 21:17 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Many elephants in the room. That and several more. We wasted so much time.
18.07.2025 21:15 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Many elephants in the room. That and several more. We wasted so much time.
18.07.2025 21:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Not my side of EuroStackโฆ very much an industry movement. Not relying on the bureaucracy. Agree with your sentiment
18.07.2025 21:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0No not really,,,
18.07.2025 20:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Frank exchange btw Oren & Sander: how American conservatives currently see their role & Europeโs, vs a sober European perspective. Much more at play than tariffs & trade. The โcivilizationalโ narrative in full view. Why bleating โwe must enforce our digital laws!โ is such a waste of time. Wake up.
18.07.2025 13:08 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Had a fascinating conversation with Oren Cass, a leading voice on economic policy among US conservatives.
Rare to have such a direct transatlantic exchange on America First economics, tariffs, Trumpโs China policy (is there one?), and where Europe fits in.

18.07.2025 07:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A lot else. Watch.
18.07.2025 07:31 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you! extraordinary how people here still have not understood the US conservative view of Europe. To quote โthatโ State Department memo, itโs a โcivilizational warโ. The overgrown teenager in the basement, as Oren says. Listen to Sander for a sober European view. And digital regulation, yes?
