Ultimately I had to plug in the Yubikey, wait for the PIN prompt to appear, unplug the Yubikey, wait for the on-screen keyboard to appear, type my PIN, plug the Yubikey back in, and then continue. 😵‍💫

USB passkey was the only remaining option, so I had to go in the closet and search for a USB-C to USB-A OTG adapter. Luckily, I had one. Once I got it plugged in it asks for a PIN while simultaneously disabling the keyboard because the Yubikey is plugged in...

It couldn't log in to my account via my old phone for some unknown reason, and logging in via passkey is basically impossible. QR code login did nothing. NFC passkey didn't work.

I'm convinced no one who works at Google actually uses their own products. The out-of-box experience on the Pixel 9 is one of the worst and most confusing I've ever experienced.
