Having AI embodied in particular physical entities with separate (but mutually accessible/shareable, etc.) memories/behaviors is probably closer to what I think could replicate human “work” in the real world.

But maybe less-embodied AI drones would be better, and easier to implement safely?

I still think this ^ could be a barrier to “AGI”. I think a lot of jobs are about having an accountable person for a specific domain, and to have that person remember directions, learn from mistakes, etc., without giving that person an enumerated list of actual duties.

My hunch is that young people will develop their own language in their own communities, not on Bluesky or Substack.

Maybe the task for us boomers isn’t to be role models, but to watch for whatever the new thing is and boost it and try to stop it from getting dogpiled so reflexively.

And maybe leaning into that and validating it honestly is better than “how to get laid”?

Like, maybe the hookup culture my generation had was actually bad?

Anecdotally - the kids these days are all terrified of sex, and like, on one hand, that leaves them vulnerable to hate, but on the other hand - maybe sex actually is kind of scary, especially when you haven’t figured yourself out yet?

But I think also we are at a point where we can have a different kind of discussion, that incorporates queer and trans perspectives, that reckons with the ubiquity of porn and the challenges it poses.

And I’m not sure it actually has be about “men want to get laid”

I probably shouldn’t riff on this but - I have teenage nephews and it is just so obvious how they could be lost to right-wing misogyny without an appealing progressive account of men’s issues.

The fact that “propensity to hallucinate” is an observable and steerable trait would seem to suggest that LLM’s “know” when they are hallucinating, at least some of the time. Fascinating.

i think we're still underestimating the impact uv will have on using computers. it makes such a big difference to "python developers" right when the definition of "python developers" is hugely expanding

I guess my point is that you make me think about a “curriculum” for teaching uv to novices and I feel like I haven’t found that yet, at least not for my use cases.

I was introducing a novice programmer (former PM, interested in vibe coding, etc) to basic python and CLI tools and I was torn about whether to introduce uv or not.

I opted for “not” because I still am not totally ok with uv + Jupyter, and notebooks I think are still really good for beginners?
