Phyllonirycter corylifoliella
Cabbage Moth
I don't get many Cydia amplana in Ashurst, New Forest, so this was a nice nfy this morning, plus Phyllonorycter corylifoliella nfg & Cabbage nfy, plus 3 noctuella. Great to also have my 3rd Dusky Mocha of the year. Less welcome were 8 Hornets & 2 Box Moths! #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

Tree-lichen Beauty
I've only had a few Tree-lichen Beauty's previously in Ashurst, New Forest, so the one this morning was nice to see. Also Plumed Fanfoot but that was disturbed by another moth just as I was about to take the picture #teammoth

Grass Emerald
Grass Emerald was a notable absentee from the garden list in Ashurst, New Forest - until today. Also Musotima nitidalis (Australiasian native, now well established in the #NewForest) but it flew off in the dining room before I could photograph it & yet to be relocated.. #teammoth

Dingy Mocha
Dingy Mocha is a Red Data Book & Biodiversity Action Plan specialty of Hants/Dorset: when I caught my first one since starting trapping 1990 in the garden in Ashurst, New Forest in April I thought it was just a wanderer, but a second one today encourages me that it is now established here #teammoth

Small Purple Barred the best from this morning's mv in Ashurst, New Forest. Not uncommon on the forest rides but less than annual in the garden #teammoth

It did actually escape into the hedge (!), but I potted it from there as the size/shape/jizz were different from the usual geometers..

Brown Scallop
Brown Scallop is 'largely absent' from the New Forest, so this was a welcome nfg this morning, even though it took a bit of time to realise what it was! #teammoth

Thanks, great to have the reassurance of another pair of eyes! Well past the peak season for Least Black Arches of course, but the Small BA that I've caught before have just been less well marked
15.06.2025 08:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
More well marked than ones I have caught in the previous years, but I'm pretty sure this is Small Black Arches, along with an L-album Wainscot (plus 4 Four-Spotted Footman & Pale Oak Beauty) this morning in in Ashurst, New Forest #teammoth

No genuine migrants in Ashurst, New Forest today but a couple of my favourite micros: Pseudopostega crepusculella is a tiny white moth with amazing eye caps, while Parachronistis albiceps is a beautiful 'pied piper' Gelechid (but it flew off before a decent photo!) Year list up to 313. #teammoth
