So. He was exercising his official duties. According to the SCOTUS he can do no evil. This country is a lawless joke thanks to that court.

Simply put, the SCOTUS gave Trump the green light to do everything he can as President, to destroy the system of checks and balances enshrined in the constitution. The end result of the SCOTUS betrayal. How do you save a country that works so hard to destroy its own principles?

Trumps MO, executive theory coupled with the SCOTUS ruling giving him immunity, essentially turned the presidency into a zero sum game of power acquisition. He has no incentive NOT to gather all possible power. The result, a predictable and direct assault on the states rights to govern themselves.

Let’s say, completely hypothetically, a group of billionaires wanted to buy up the US stock market for cheap. A neat way to do that is tariffs. Check it. Tariffs increase prices, the prices rise causes a completely predictable market crash, said billionaires buy everything, remove tariffs. Done.

In retrospect, the threat to democracy line didn’t bite because the truth is after 20 years on not teaching civics in American schools, a critical mass of Trump voters no longer care about our carefully designed government. Our system of government cannot be healthy without proper education.

It was an understandable mistake, the democrats focusing on Trump’s distain for traditional American civics, distain for our elections; Democrats followed Trumps inflammatory lead, defending those marginalized by Trumps attacks. It was reactionary. It could be nothing else, but It was a mistake.

This fear has lead to extreme measures. It seems likely that some believe the expansion of America power and business, now requires conquests. They believe keeping up with China is impossible without this radical change in geopolitical posture. I disagree of course but… well, here we are.

The powers that be appear to believe that conquest is a necessary evil, this includes Canada 1st but will likely expand to other countries if the Canada conquest goes smoothly. The reason for this belief, that conquest is needed, is likely related to the expansion of Chinese power. Fear.
