Those who believe this are mainly of the peasantry, superstitious fools they are. Magic has no morality attached to it, for it is simply the usage of the energy that freely flows around all things. They only believe in this “corruption” because of the ramblings of those who have witnessed me, and they cannot fathom the difference between how I act towards my allies and how I act towards my enemies. Nonetheless, I admit I am drawn to continue learning of this magic I discovered; this magic which allowed me to fulfill my destiny as one of the nobility. Perhaps I have simply stumbled upon a discovery greater than I imagined, the only form of magic that is inherently “evil.” It has managed to prolong my life, preserve my youth, and give me abilities beyond my initial hopes, after all. If they see Jehan Va’Reen as nothing more than a heartless butcher of those who oppose them, then who am I to stop them? I cannot control their beliefs, no matter how utterly ridiculous they are. The only thing I can truly control is myself, and I shall let nobody take that control from me.
