09.02.2026 15:52 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I need someone to write about mannequins in Nairobi, especially roadside mannequins.
They are voluptuous!
I hope the people who will write about this will spend time on the juxtaposition of Coco Jones singing the Black people's anthem and Bad Bunny—though everyone seems to be calling him Benito, now (we are so familiar!)—singing the Americas
anticolonial difference and collaboration
a friend wrote a wonderful book about encountering objects connected to the romantic poets who wrote so beautifully about love and freedom and always finding plantations and slavery right there too, inseparable

(I might be messing up his timeline—it's been a while.)
I also had a thought—I shall not pursue—about why Black socialists have succeeded—to various degrees, never forget Grenada—when they are not faced with the dailyness of white supremacy. There's something there.
Du Bois could be a socialist in Ghana in a way he could not in the U.S.
I'm reading the Combahee River Collective's "Black Feminist Statement" (again and again and again).
And, though it doesn't matter, I wonder if the yt Marxist bros have spent time with it. To really think through what it does and why it's a foundational document for contemporary socialism.
Thank you!

Which is improved with a few pinches of cumin!
(I do not have the sophistication to parse between white supremacists—Cesaire tells us the panic over Nazism is that it was directed toward and within Europe. Europeans had zero issues using the same strategies across the colonized world. Even—EVEN—after Nazism was ostensibly defeated in WW2.)
08.02.2026 06:41 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'd have appreciated—maybe?—an article that spoke to many of the minoritized people who use substack and asked why we persist there despite knowing that white supremacists are platformed.
The answers might have proved interesting.
It's amazing how many Palestinian, pro-Palestine, Black, Queer, Feminist, Abolitionist, Marxist, and Indigenous writers that Guardian article against substack—substack platforms white supremacists!—had to ignore to tell us that we live within and use white supremacist platforms.
We know.
After years of not eating avocado—food for birds and dogs—I am back to eating avocado.
avocado is okay
I’d choose plums over avocado any day.
This brotha on this YouTube video stated that when he was planning to move to Addis Ababa Ethiopia, he started learning Swahili.
He was shocked after actually moving there that their language is Amharic.
How do you not even bother to look up the language of the place that you’re moving to sir?
