There’s a persistent problem here (in Enfield) with delivery drivers driving and parking on the pavement, behind cycle lanes and bus stops. Also constant buck-passing between councillors, parking enforcement and police about who’s responsible for stopping it. It’s been illegal for years in London.

Also worth remembering that if a developer is successful appealing a refusal, costs can be awarded against the planning authority. A gentle reminder of this from officers often works wonders.

The real question is how sustainable is their offer? October figures show their audience was 700k compared with Sky Sports 1’s 7 million. If the audience isn’t there, neither will the advertising revenues be. The Champions
Cup will be on Sky or TNT next season.

The flaw with the “central idea” is it’s not the planning system that’s at fault. The under-resourcing of planning departments and the bullying culture that’s emerged among some Councillors and developers are actually to blame. The system would work fine given half a chance.

That’s a big gap between “once a month” and “never”! We see police occasionally, less than once a month and that seems proportionate to crime levels in the area.
