That’ll be the project delivered late and massively over budget, then?

Not convinced. I hope those responsible were happy to se the obvious distress #Woakes was in while #England lost.

So what happened to β€œplayer welfare”? And why isn’t a sub allowed for a bona fide injury (although #Siraj can be subbed and put his feet up for half an hour or Gile bowled).

Can someone explain to me like I’m a 3-year old, why in a modern professional sport, it looks like they’re going to send #Woakes out to bat with a dislocated shoulder? It’s appalling and disgusting

Given the #worldcup is up next and @redrosesrugby.bsky.social are favourites, why isn’t the UK media all over this? @england-rugby.bsky.social being their usual inept selves?

Because, yes, we all made our best choices for when we were 16. I know I did:

That’s an interesting spelling also. Theta = O; no D or S in Greek; Psi = Y and Sigma = E. Nothing like OδύσσΡια.

While working as a planning consultant for over 40 years, one of the most common phrases I heard was β€œthat might work in London, but that’s not how we do things here”. Rest of the UK: Be more London!

This describes #planning policy in #London for the last 60 years, or hadn’t she noticed?

I understand It’s well established in law that statements made by someone on X are subject to the same libel laws as statements published elsewhere. Why aren’t #KeirStamer and #JessPhillips taking #ElonMusk to court over what he’s said?

β€œCustomer Help” (sic) @theguardian.com tells me β€œAs the new Editions app can only run on Ios 16+ and Android 7+ and the old version has been deleted, you will no longer be able to access the Editions app as there is no work around for this.”

And so ends half a century as a Guardian reader for me!

There’s a persistent problem here (in Enfield) with delivery drivers driving and parking on the pavement, behind cycle lanes and bus stops. Also constant buck-passing between councillors, parking enforcement and police about who’s responsible for stopping it. It’s been illegal for years in London.

So, it appears from today I no longer can access the @theguardian.com editions app on my perfectly serviceable iPad or iPhone as I can’t update the iOS system. Do I need to just cancel my subscription and view on the web with the hoi polloi for free? Seems like a retrograde step to me.

I don’t understand how they didn’t see this coming (or did they?). Anyone who’s visited Saudi will know you can’t buy or consume alcohol anywhere, so it ought not to be a great surprise.

I know all about the franchise process, having been directly involved on both sides. DfT is happy for the TOCs to make cost savings at the expense of service levels, so stay mum.

I’ve asked #Govia many times in the past 3 years when the service they were franchised to run will be restored, but have received no answer. Guess they’re enjoying the cost savings that boost profits too much!

I live on the #Thameslink line, and there’s no sign of our pre-Covid service being restored. We have 2 tph instead of the former 3 tph. This contrasts with the nearby and parallel #LondonOverground which has 4 tph. I

Just caught an #Amazon delivery guy stuffing a package behind my dustbin without having rung the doorbell or knocking on the door first. I challenged him on this, but he just walked away. Is this a thing now? What happens when stuff gets stolen in these circumstances?

Thames Water will run out of cash by March without Β£3bn emergency funding Britain’s biggest water supplier reports 40% increase in pollution incidents, blaming a wet spring and summer

Why not let @ThamesWater go bust, nationalise at zero cost and run it for the benefit of its customers?

Also worth remembering that if a developer is successful appealing a refusal, costs can be awarded against the planning authority. A gentle reminder of this from officers often works wonders.

The real question is how sustainable is their offer? October figures show their audience was 700k compared with Sky Sports 1’s 7 million. If the audience isn’t there, neither will the advertising revenues be. The Champions
Cup will be on Sky or TNT next season.

The flaw with the β€œcentral idea” is it’s not the planning system that’s at fault. The under-resourcing of planning departments and the bullying culture that’s emerged among some Councillors and developers are actually to blame. The system would work fine given half a chance.

That’s a big gap between β€œonce a month” and β€œnever”! We see police occasionally, less than once a month and that seems proportionate to crime levels in the area.

I’d wager that passengers don’t give a toss what the trains are called provided they’re on time, cheap and comfortable. What about calling them all β€œBritish Rail”?

It tells you something about this Government that they’re able to replace a minister who really understood their brief with another that’s as competent. When did @conservatves ever do that?

This is the physical manifestation of a #GreenBook appraisal process that favours investment in areas that already perform well economically over those that don’t.

The City’s shadowy figure in the under-gallery The City Remembrancer, a role dating from 1571, is just one of the curious officials employed by the City of London Corporation. I walk the tightrope of political impartiality to explain what he do…

Yes, indeed. You can find out more here…
