I had a S2L…it was superb with two gears being all that was necessary. I fitted slick tyres to it, bar ends, and Deore XT pedals…very nippy for the commute, until I got mown down on it by an idiot, and the Police then lost it whilst holding it for evidence (not an issue, because that was settled).

I decided to DNS the Willy Warmer 200k Audax this morning🥱 I finally headed out at 12:15hrs and followed the route from Pangbourne to Winnersh, and it turned out to be a great afternoon out, seeing loads of familiar faces. Headed straight home via Reading….where it was soggy with a tailwind💦🚴🏼‍♂️💨💨💦😆👍

….Pangbourne is probably heaving with them now, descending on food establishments like a plague of locusts😆

I was supposed to be doing the Willy Warmer 200 today….got everything ready last night, woke up when alarm went off, looked out window, emailed org to notify that I’d be a DNS, and went back to bed🥱

I destroyed the engine of a 306 turbo diesel on Christmas Eve in 1999, with a boot full of Christmas shopping….water was no more that a foot deep, and that was the day I discovered 306’s air intakes were in the lower half of the front bumper. £2,600 for a new engine later😬

200km and 5,400m of climbing was involved there🚵
