The sign in front matched the logo on the business card he had received from Percy Greene - two palm trees with a little island between them. The windows were painted with various tropical scenes, such as coconut trees and lapping waves. Brock decided it was altogether tacky and out of place here.

The P.I. slid the utensil into his back pocket. "This is a useful item to have," he thought, already planning to pick up a Clark Special from Dino's Delicatessen on the way home later.

Brock surveyed the scene across the street. There was Island Realty, a small brown building on a lot by itself.

Brock Brent, P.I., continued his walk in the direction of Island Realty, savoring his convenient breakfast as he went. By the time he reached the location, his hunger had been satiated. He found a public trash receptacle to dispose of the cup. Using a napkin, he wiped his new pocket fork clean.

"Heck of an idea, Pal," he replied. "I don't suppose you have any for sale?"

The entrepreneur smiled broadly. "Funny you should mention that. I just started carrying that item for sale. Two bits."

The P.I. slid a coin across the surface of the young man's cart and was handed a small metal fork.

The P.I. balked at the price, but could not deny the convenience. He counted out the bills onto the cart, and took the concoction and some napkins.

"Got a fork?" he asked.

"You don't have a pocket fork?" the young man asked.

Brock flushed chagrinly at never having heard of a pocket fork before.

Plastic forks certainly existed in my targeted timeline, but weren't widely used. Maybe some dialogue about just a regular fork and telling him to bring it back when he was done.
