CrowdScience - Why isn't the sky green? - BBC Sounds Why do we see so many colours in the sky, but never green?

The sky can be beautiful fiery colours at sunset πŸŒ… & a cool blue during the day 🩡 but why is the sky never green? πŸ’š

CrowdScience took a trip to The Artic Circle to find out.

I think this is one of my favourite colourful climate chart type things, because it depicts two things at once:

- Things are going to get worse, no matter what

- The degree to which they get worse depends on decisions made today

It was an honour to attend the UNCA Gala in New York on Friday to receive the medal and wonderful to meet so many interesting journalists from around the world. And it was a great excuse to explore New York at Christmas time - a real bucket list tick for a very big career moment βœ… πŸ₯Ή

Big thanks also to Content Editor Cathy Edwards who attended the awards with me, and without whom these programmes would not have been anywhere near as good!

I’d like to give a massive thanks to the contributors - without whom there is no programme, no story and no hope. Their resilience and commitment to protecting coastlines in Puerto Rico and beyond is incredible.

BBC World Service - CrowdScience, Are our coastlines being washed away? What is coastal erosion and why is it a problem?

The award is for reporting on UN Agency work, and I’m especially thrilled it was awarded to programmes we made about my favourite subject (geography). The first of the two winning programmes is here:

I’m delighted to announce that I have been awarded the Gold medal of the Ricardo Ortega Memorial Prize at the #2024UNCAAwards, alongside presenter Caroline Steel, for the CrowdScience programmes on coastal erosion we made earlier this year.
