The AI Meeting Bot Problem: Built for Business, Breaking Education Another Vendor-Created Training Emergencyβ€”This Time It's Meeting Bots

What happens when software creators release features without legal considerations & impact assessment? Users, like educational institutions are left with no time to manage it.

When I work, I concentrate. There's plenty distractions from my colleagues, believe me. I deliberately take my phone out of the equation, and will continue to do so.
Let's see how this lady will fare next time.

"when you arrive, press those numbers in the numpad so I can let you in"
She huffs and puffs.
I insist with silence.
She finally agrees.
I feel like I'm in a social experiment.
A alien navigating a set of rules I don't agree with.

Instead I ask her: "do you have the doorbell number?" (I always add it to my address. It's intuitive, the floor + door number, and it's spelled out on the keypad but I appreciate not everyone has time or wants to read instructions.)
She confirms yes, and tells me the floor and door number.

We agree that she'd bring it today.
I stay at home (happily). I work all day. I don't look at my calls all day. Then late afternoon I take another call.
"you didn't answer"
good woman (I think to myself) why not press the doorbell

As people say,"very interesting short story"
(it might not be. it's mundane. it's life)
I have this courier who insists on calling me instead of ringing my doorbell. I don't take phone calls but yesterday evening I answered.
"I was there earlier"
I believed her. I was in the office in the morning.

I moved to other countries, so the fridge stayed with her. 25 years passed. It still stands tall and proud, FUNCTIONING, in the kitchen. Twenty-five years without any major issues. 25. That's why old things are better.

When I moved in with my first boyfriend, my aunt bought us a brand new fridge, top of the line. When we broke up, I took that fridge. When I bought an apartment, I took that fridge. When my mum had to move in, she inherited it.

Lady Heywood's brother and father give an angry riposte When Suzanne Heywood told her father she was going to write a book about their epic yacht trip, he couldn't have been more supportive.

It can be as simple as different personalities or as complex as golden boy vs serving daughter. Especially this being in the 80s, the latter can easily be true.

It's definitely a stark reminder that reality is not always shared.

I don't normally read Daily Mail but I've found this fascinating. A woman writes her childhood memoir about growing up on a boat where she felt lonely, miserable, neglected. Brother on the same boat felt it was amazing.

At least once a day I think about how lucky I am to be healthy despite never having put my body first, my dog is healthy despite eating crap from time to time on our walk, and my mum is relatively healthy despite her age, smoking and drinking. We might not be healthy forever but today is good.

His str…" Photographer Miles Astray sparked headlines after entering a real photo of a flamingo into an AI image contest and winning. His striking shot, titled Flamingone, shows a flamingo with its head hidden behind its body, creating a surreal illusion that fooled both judges and the public. The image won third place and the People’s Choice Award in the AI-generated category of the 1839 Awards. When Astray revealed it was a genuine photo, organizers disqualified him for breaking the category rules. He said the stunt was meant to show that human creativity and natural beauty can still outshine artificial intelligence.Photo: @milesastray

My dog came up to my head in the middle of the night which is super rare.
"Poor thing, is it raining? Is there thunder?"
No.
She just wants to sleep on my pillow.
I think she won.

I love my job. It's interesting, challenging, varied, allows me to work in teams & alone, with processes, data and people. So I give it my all - sometimes too much. So clap for me, because yesterday I finished my last call at 5.50pm and logged off immediately, and was done for the day. Just done! πŸ’ͺ

There are actual people walking around at 7-8am, awake enough to talk to others on the phone! I don't talk on my phone (privately) until like 2pm (even then, only reluctantly)
Do these people take caffeine intravenously? What is even that urgent that you absolutely had to share at the crack of dawn?

In our latest Spanish class we were learning about pains and illnesses, and I've found one expression super weird but nobody else did: me duelen los ojos. Do you ever say that in English, my eyes hurt? Sure they can itch but I somehow assumed there aren't even nerves in my eyes...

Is it just me or does Google translate randomly change the language for you too?

Lynching by Suicide: The Rebranded Face of America’s Racial Violence Once carried out in the open by bestial white mobs, activists say lynching of Black Americans has been rebranded in modern America as rulings of suicide,

How can lynching still happen today? What is going on in their heads that gives them permission to kill someone as a group? I find it so much scarier than psychopaths and serial killers, these are average Joes.

There should be a law against this kind of consent because box. Like who would say yes to certain "legitimate interest" and no to others? It's either all no, or too lazy to select no.

I really like Wednesday bank holidays. When we'll have 4 working days, I'll choose Wednesday as my day off. It's like an additional weekend.

Rereading my book after it rested for 7 months in the digital drawer. It's not half-bad. But far from complete.
