The massacres today have been reported by her cousin Mahmoud Abusalama. Please do not just read and watch this but also ACT. Figure out what you can do to help stop the genocide, end the apartheid, end the occupation, and free Palestine, after so many years of oppression, from the river to the sea.

In the hours after she spoke with us, the genocide has escalated. Among the appalling number of people Israel has massacred today is yet another of her family members: the husband of a cousin who was herself murdered with her youngest children in 2023.

Most importantly, her book is a call to action of us all to do everything in our power to break that silence and end our complicity and the complicity of our governments and institutions that provide weapons, money, diplomatic cover, and other support to Israel.

It explains how these films set the stage for 77 years of silence in the face of the ongoing Nakba, in the face of decades of Israeli apartheid, its siege of Gaza, its repeated attacks and massacres, its detention and torture of political prisoners.

Dr. Abusalama's book meticulously explains how documentary film helped to create and reinforce the mental structures that have led so much of the world to remain unconscionably, horrifyingly silent in the face of this genocide.

We have all been watching the stream of acts so ghastly that they cannot be adequately captured in words; of images that we will never erase from our minds, and that shatter the naive beliefs that many of us held about the nature of our governments, institutions, and societies.

Just think what every second and every minute means for someone in this situation. For someone who serves as one of the few remaining links between the outside world and loved ones being deliberately starved, bombed, shot, and disappeared into torture camps.

Dr. Abusalama took the time to speak with us while her friends and family in Gaza are facing a genocide being perpetrated by Israel and the US with massive support from Europe and the complicity of so many of our institutions.
