I get that, even with me still being religious so often it doesn't feel "enough" by my mom's standards lol

Again, I don't have the full context, so I'm not trying to tell you that your perception is wrong, but maybe there's a chance your dad just can't fully put himself in your shoes rather than is trying to talk you out of it or is fully unaccepting of you? Hoping he'll come around like your mom did!

Like, I'm squeamish about surgeries! If a loved one was about to have surgery that isn't absolutely necessary to their survival (even if I know it'd improve their life quality or self image) I might also say "it's ok to back out in case you're not fully sure" and not mean it in a discouraging way.

I'm obviously lacking the context of your relationship and previous conversations with your dad but on a base level this message doesn't necessarily feel unsupportive to me, just that he's scared of the risks and the big change, I guess?
