“As an expert…” used to be such an important part of promoting. I notice it isn’t as important these days, unless you wander into a niche language.

The internet has proven that there’s no such thing as an idiot proof tool. We build awesome LLMs and the internet provides idiots capable of misusing them and then blaming the tool.

I lean towards being careful of anthropocentrism in this conversation. Humans have only started to recognize the intelligence of other species. We don’t have a great track record here.

I’ve never seen him take a genuinely costly stand against institutional or corporate power. His career has been remarkably free of enemies in high places, which says something.

Pete has a McKinsey background, moderate-by-design politics, and a remarkable ability to make corporate-friendly centrism sound like pragmatic wisdom. He represents the Democratic party’s tendency to prioritize being palatable to donors over being useful to voters.

While I would prefer my cat over the current administration (and my cat is an idiot), Pete represents all the things about the corporatist democrats which helped Trump get elected in the first place. I think we can do better.

There is no if. Illegal voting happens. 31 per billion votes cast were illegal per Levitt, Justin. “The Truth About Voter Fraud.” Brennan Center for Justice, 2007 www.brennancenter.org/our-work/res...

That’s 0.0000031%

A comprehensive investigation of voter impersonation finds 31 credible incidents out of one billion ballots cast Voter impersonation is a dumb way to steal an election, which is why it rarely happens.

Further, the evidence of voter impersonation (the type of voter fraud this would protect against) are approximately 31 in a billion. www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp...

This is not about preventing voter fraud as it is a negligible problem.

“If used correctly”. What you’re effectively saying is that you are on the right path already. The llm is just a tool. You’re doing the work. Good for you!

Tell me that you didn’t read the link without saying…

Or do you have an explanation for the near perfect correlation between extreme voter drop off and districts with voting machines in swing states. This shit is p < 0.00001.

Waiting is what Trump and the rest of them want us to do. We are gonna wait forever at this rate.

AWS has a Toronto region, but sure that would mean going k8s based. Then you could deploy into just about any datacenter. That said, you’re still dependent on a huge pile of tech. GitHub for all the open source, Docker repos, I mean the list goes on. DNS…

These days with gen-ai and AWS? Not that long. If I was building it, I’d say about a month to have pretty decent prototype out. That’s a small team of like 4 senior people with architecture, data and coding. A little longer if you want K8s native / cloud agnostic.

Republican language has been close to that of the Hutus in the 90’s. This is the inevitable and intended result. It will get worse.

Huh. I regularly have lunch with a friend who is semi-employed. I’m doing well. If there’s ever any doubt, I just say “can’t remember whose turn it is but I think it’s mine today.” If they’re your friends, be honest up
front about what you can afford. If they’re your friends, they’ll respect it.

“Must” is not “will”. Your oath is to the constitution. Your duty is to refuse to live within the lie.

Read up on the genocide in Rwanda. The rhetoric used by the Hutus is horrifyingly familiar.

It’s a shame America can’t self govern competently enough to address its issues without having a civil war every couple of hundred years.

“We are safe for now”. “First they came for the…”

“For now” is a very ephemeral thing. I encourage you to understand that the only thing keeping you safe is the rule of law, and that it is currently teetering on the brink of non-existence. You probably understand this. Do your neighbors?
