I had no idea what One Battle After Another was about before I decided to go see it. Hadn't seen any trailers or anything for it and so I didnt know what to expect. It started off shaky but by the end I thoroughly enjoyed that weird movie.

I've gotten some good recommendations in this thread but not quite as many as I expected. And many of them were books I was already aware of. Which makes me wonder, are there just not that many 'big idea' SF novels out there, or am I missing something? [I'm probably missing something]

This would be very cool indeed. Disaster stories are the "easy" option to constrain to a day because of the immediate urgency but there are a few other ways to make it work.
