I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud

Well, let's give it a shot again and see what we get.

#FebOutlining I am definitely a spreadsheeter--it helps me to track things like name, physical description, abilities, specializations, family, backstory, overarching goal, factional allegiances, and relationships (depending on project).

How much more would I cherish what I made if I weren't evaluating it for the market? How much less anxious would I be to excel, if I weren't living paycheck to paycheck? How much better art would I make, if I could love it unreservedly?

It's not just about having more time and more energy, though, although those would really help. The professionalization of art means that something that might please me greatly on its own merits can disappoint me because of its lack of commercial potential. And I think that's sad.

The need to make a living constrains both the time and the energy I have available to write. The necessity of keeping my house further constrains them. I look at what I can make with the crumbs I have left, and I'm always so disappointed--I used the last dregs of myself for /this/?

I am genuinely really curious what would happen to people's self-concepts as creators if it were possible to make a life of art without worrying about whether art could pay the bills--if time for art weren't scraped from the leftovers after day job(s) and chores and childcare were done.

If you are lamenting your inability to make art, it's worth asking yourself what you want FROM art.

Is it attention? Praise? Money? A sense of worth?--Art itself doesn't offer those, although some artists find them.

Is it to make art? ... then make art. Even if it's bad. The joy will be there. 💚
