Voting against something Steven Miller wants seems to me to be a moral obligation, not a failing.

Because even if America doesn't move forward as quickly as I would like, slowly and imperfectly forward is still better than backward.

I can say this much: so far as 2028 goes, I'm leaning either towards @govpritzker.illinois.gov or @petebuttigieg.bsky.social (and I know that neither has formally announced), but if neither of them get the nomination, I am not ruling out voting for any other potential Democratic nominee.

Recovering from the damage MAGA has done is not going to happen in one election or two. And a baby step forward is better than lunging backwards.

The reality right now is that we need to get through '26 by shattering the MAGA hold on Congress who have proven themselves incapable of showing any backbone against Trump's excesses.

My first presidential election was 1984. In the 40+ years since then, only once, in 2008, have I voted for the same candidate in both the primary and in the general election (I don't count essentially uncontested primaries like '96 and '12). And I'm fine with that.
