A while back I wrote that Trump had made real progress on every item on the authoritarian checklist except elections, because of state control over running elections. But it was clear that he would use the legal system and state co-partisans to also gain control over elections.

As the Trump regime ramps up their attacks on our democracy, we need to use every tool we have to fight back — including mass demonstrations, economic tactics, mutual aid, grassroots pressure campaigns, and more. Indivisible was made for this kind of organizing, but we can’t do it without your help.

The Trump administration is building a national citizenship data system The Department of Homeland Security, with help from DOGE, has rolled out a tool that purports to be able to check the citizenship status of almost all Americans.

Credible reports show DOGE, DHS & other regime agencies have illegally gathered protected personal info on over 200 million citizens into a massive surveilance database, already being used with no public oversight or accountability.

Because from what I see, too many who've joined Indivisble & other opposition groups still think privately that we'll need to partner with big money donors for resistance to succeed.

The usual compromises or appeals to reason won't bring any change from this regime, or it's enablers in Congress. And just scrambling to get Dems back in power won't matter - if they've got no real plan for reform & no will to fight.

I understand & agree with most of these comments. It's natural & human for everyone who values our democracy to feel violated, & need to vent the outrage.

But at some point we have to stop just reacting. This regime is weaker than it looks, & vulnerable on many sides. Let's start fighting back.

Whenever that question comes up, I try to remind people that I'm an independent & a moderate. I don't care about "rebuilding" either party so they can continue to divide the country.

I want opposition groups to define what they stand for, & build locally with their own resources for real reform.

Most of this makes sense.

But as an independent moderate since 1991, I can say what's missing in this analysis is a deeper & more honest look at why we continue to leave BOTH parties in record numbers.

The "Republican penalty" is now obvious. The new independent majority wants accountability.

The "egregious behavior" here continues to come from an unworthy leader who tries to claim unlimited power - while repeatedly showing he's too weak & unstable to deal with even modest criticism.

Our allies deserve better. The American People deserve better. Let's stop hoping & take back our future.
