Most things we do as human beings has an environmental cost.

Greenwashing is a problem & there needs to be much more recycling of EV tech components.

The more consumers reject fossil fuel the more attractive investment in alternatives will become.
EVs are definitely part of that that push.

There’s always one spoilt child in the playground who’ll only join a game if everyone follows their rules.
The funny thing is that nobody wants that kid to join the game. They complain constantly & cry if they don’t get their way.
Those kids end up with no friends.

I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not, but there’s plenty of info out there explaining diesel pollution, and petrol CO2. Anyone advocating walking, bikes and buses ought to understand how important clean air is to health.
EVs are part of the solution.
That’s why there’s low emission zones.

Those 900 miles are in a diesel car. The worse offender for air pollution.
I don’t drive, I live in a semi rural location and I hate going into urban areas precisely because of the poor air quality.
All those diesel and petrol engines doing short urban journeys are a huge problem.

Perhaps you’d be better off with a horse and cart?
Definitely no tech to worry about, very little mechanical maintenance & ultra low emissions - including free fertiliser πŸ˜‰
Joking aside, people are sharing their thoughts on here from a tech device that is tracking them & car tech is the problem? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

It was in Texas

From what I hear Texan lawmakers care more about protecting gun ownership than victims of shooting.

Here in the uk I can have an argument with my dad without fear of being shot, whether β€˜accidental’ or on purpose.

That’s a very important distinction between US and UK society.

11.02.2026 16:06 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The same people who say ICE are defending themselves?

I’ve no doubt if her dad hadn’t had a gun in his house that innocent young woman would still be alive.

He clearly has a hard time understanding that women are not a commodity and probably values his gun more than his daughters.

11.02.2026 15:18 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

To be fair this isn’t a purely US phenomenon.
The uk (where I live) there’s a patriarchy problem too. But not guns!

So many women are abused & exploited, then treated with disdain by authorities supposed to protect us.

There will be no justice or equity for women until the patriarchy is destroyed.

The reality is that the wealth divide has increased exponentially in the last decade & half.
When Polanski quotes this it’s reality, not spin.

I’d rather listen to a politician talking about the very real consequences that wealth inequality has on society than hear fiscal spin & racism.

Depends on whether you want a gov that serves society, like the one that created the NHS & welfare state. Or a gov that owns & runs our utilities, social care, education etc for societies benefit & not for shareholders or hedge funds. Or one that taxes wealth.
That’s not this Labour gov or reform.

British Woman shot by dad in Texas after 'arguing about Donald Trump' Lucy Harrison, 23, was alone in a bedroom at her father's home in Texas when she was shot dead.

Only one thing blocking justice.
The patriarchy.
Enabling Epstein/Trump/elites exploitation, but also in much of US society, where women have no value.

A man shot & killed his daughter. She’d asked how he’d feel if she got raped.
He said, I’ve got two other daughters…

Even if you think climate change is a hoax - it isn’t - why on earth would you trust a political party that’s been bought & paid for by corporate donations?

Labours front bench, tories and reform have no intention of fixing the very real social and economic problems we face.

The answer is Green.

Clearly not β€œat all times”.
The point being that the system being touted as infallible and better than humans isn’t infallible and requires human intervention.

Also, people like having a conversation with a real human driver. For some it’s the only meaningful social interaction they get.

I don’t know if he is a good person or not but from my perspective (in the uk), Obama is a better person in so so many ways than the scum you have currently infesting the highest echelons of US government.

Balance is everything. Yet it occurs to me that some on here are persistent in pushing a rosy picture of the labour govt.
Bearing in mind I’m a labour voter, you need to appreciate that I am being fair & balanced in my assessment.
This gov has consistently & detrimentally watered down good policy.

07.02.2026 11:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree that the media tends to focus on sensationalism and ignores the mundane process of government.
However, there has been far too much watering down of policy to appease lobbyists, finance/tech industry & front bench donors. These policies do little for the vast majority of people in society.

Imagine if Carney, Macron, Merz, Starmer, Zelensky or any world leader posted an image of Trump & Melania morphing into Hitler & Ava Braun…
Of course it would never happen. But imagine the outcry & calls for apologies from his cult following. A vile cult embracing the racism & hate of their leaders.

Ever heard of government spin.

It often builds a picture which appears to be much more positive than it is in reality.

1. I keep a close eye on the decisions made by the government. Not least because it impacts me directly as someone working alongside my local authority within SEND education provision.

06.02.2026 18:58 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

2 My other half works in the NHS. In a capacity that oversees exactly what impact the government is having to budgets, investment and technology.
It is not as rosy as the government are painting in either of those cases and I dare say it’s the same in other important gov departments.

06.02.2026 18:57 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, there has been movement on all those things but in each case the policies, legislation and plans have been watered down and compromised to serve lobbyists, business and front bench donors.
All of that has come at a cost to those of us trying to make ends meet.

06.02.2026 18:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You implied that this government has done things you approve of.
You aren’t obliged, but it’s quite useful for a person to offer context to their opinion.

As someone who lives in a deprived and desperate part of the NE I’m keen to clarify what you think Labour has done.

I’m a Labour voter btw.

05.02.2026 15:44 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Imagine I’ve not kept up to date with the Labour gov, and tell me what good they’ve done please?

Also explain why the same gov has not helped LAs after 15 yrs of Tory cuts.
Instead budgets such as SEND are being scapegoated & tightened.
They’ve done none of the basic stuff that helps society.

05.02.2026 15:10 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

The mess engulfing a supposedly Labour government is exactly what happens when you cosy up to corporate powers & corrupt leadership in the US.
UK gov needs to reset its relationships with the people & organisations who have always been there for the uk economy & society.
That’s Europe & the EU.

Laura Trott on bbc lambasting the government/Starmer about Mandelson/Epstein, standing up for the public and the victims of abuse.
So not political point scoring?
A woman who was in a Tory government that covered up scandal after scandal.
Labour government has no excuse, but she has some brass neck!

Don’t be fooled that the atrocities against Gaza (and West Bank) Palestinian men, women & children has ceased because it is no longer headline news. The Israeli state is still killing innocent, desperate and vulnerable people.
The world must not forget this atrocity & the Israeli genocidal agenda.

Farage’s Reform is collecting your data: here’s why | Good Law Project Reform is harvesting your data, and ignoring people when they get in touch – so we’re taking them to court

I received a targeted leaflet from Reform in a plain envelope that had my full address, my husband and my full names on it.
I hate Reform & their fascist rhetoric. I don’t want them collecting or using my data.

Thankfully the good law project are taking action…

If one extended family was killed in Britain, it'd be the crime of our century.

Our population is 69 million.

In Gaza, Israel exterminated more than 2,700 extended families.

Their pre-genocide population was 2.2 million.

Don't forget Gaza πŸ‘‡
