The Hall itself is especially awkward, its a rarer gloss body which was in bad condition, had crusty glue all over it and I had to sand off the factory finish before priming, didn’t go on totally even as its rather light below the handrails so once I go at it with more sanding it’ll get more primer

I just spray from left to right in short bursts with some £6 primer from Charlies, I’ll sand down some of the rough spots before another coat, and only once it’s all smooth will I call it ready for the main colour

It’s the same reason a lot of 80s Hornby, Lima, Trix Twin, Marklin, etc “freewheels”, because they don’t use worm gears, all straight cut, does make them all noisier runners than something with helical gears but they’re great for power transfer and easy to make, likely why they were used

If it freewheels like that, I guarantee it has a ringfield/pancake motor, since other drivetrains use worm gears which locks up the drive when the motor is stationary

My guess is this Fleischmann loco from the 50s? Don't quote me on that, I could be wrong as overseas models aren't my forte
