That's a quote from the program's coordinator. I cannot stress how much of an impact that program made on my son's ability to transition to a new school 3 hours away from his home and 2 months into the start of middle school. It was a safe space where, he says, "literally all kids were welcome."

The after-school program that was a lifeline for my then-foster/newly adopted son just lost its funding. "On July 1, the federal government froze payments to states that include 21st CCLC funds. These payments were promised and are critical to keeping our program, and others like it, running."

Our kiddos just picked their wishes to grant (a Stanley cup and a football-themed sheet set). Bio son knows all about this from past years, but our foster (soon-to-be-adoptive) son didn't. He said, "People really do that? They grant wishes? For kids they don't even know?"

Yes, my guy. They sure do.

The support from extended family is so important. Foster parents couldn’t do it without that. ❤️
