Rodri hasn't been that good this season though (or at least the structure around him as well) so I'm not sure it's the acid test it used to be. But I'm also a believer in Wirtz and how great he can be just i don't think this is necessarily a defining game whether he plays great or not.

that's the part that angered me. you can't do that at Liverpool especially when you have a league winning squad and spent £450m to improve it. Klopp never got that backing and he was always upbeat no matter the odds.

Endo at CB for Qarabag. He's actually won Motm's for us playing at CB, but he's very undercooked with lack of minutes and obviously aging now so lacks pace. Should be enough vs Qarabag (if others do their jobs too) but it'll be an issue in the league.

We are in serious risk of not qualifying for the Champions League (I still think we will, even if we don't change the coach). But even with the injuries when you look at the squad we do still have a good chance of FA Cup and an outside chance of Champions League (though improbable with Arne)

In this unbeaten run since Forest beat us 3-0 at Anfield we've dropped 10 pts to Sunderland, Leeds, Fulham, Arsenal & Burnley. Narrowly beat relegated Wolves & 9 man Spurs. I actually think Burnley game was one of the better performances (particularly 1st half) but it's all rather underwhelming.

A season of bad records this.

8 points dropped in the last 4 games, all draws. Arsenal obviously a tough game, but Leeds, Fulham and Burnley are bad results. The performance today wasn't as bad as many performances we've had in this 'unbeaten' run but it's against a certain relegated team at home so it has to be a win.

I think he realises how it can help take pressure off him after an awful season so far. He'll play a strong team.

While Slot threw the Carabao Cup game, especially with his bench selection, I think he'll go considerably stronger in FA Cup as midway through season we're already out of 2 competitions. It's the best chance we have of a trophy. I'd like to see some changes especially Ngumoah.

We did well 2nd half, for sure much better than in the first. But in a game we created 0.36xG in total with first time in 600 games zero shots on target I wouldn't overpraise it. We had no box presence but if you add back Hugo we lose the extra man in midfield that gave us more control.

This is part of the cost of keeping a manager beyond his time, you lose players who can help you and bridges get burnt which didn't need to be.

The 'c word' as you put it seems to be thought of as beyond the pail in America, like to severe that even Americans are aghast at it. But it's ysed often here and not thought of as harshly. I've never heard it in am American film for example.

Mané to Diaz to Gakpo is a progressive decline in that position we have to correct. Yes Cody was diligent defensively but my word he spoils so many attacks. He's a good squad player, a nice guy I like him but we need to upgrade.

A team that's surpised me almost as much as Sunderland this season has been Brentford. We know the club is very well run, but they lost an iconic manager and a few key players yet they're up in 7th!

If Harvey had moved to a club that was at Fulham's level and not Villa's then he'dve played quite often and probably made a good career. Needs the right club.

I also watched the youth teams back then, I didn't think he was fast but Kent was fast. I was always impressed with his left foot and his shooting.

But their league position is better than the 15th last season but that's not hard to achieve. It's performance/results vs expectations and other meta things. He was backed with £200m in the summer too.
