Rediscovering my love for writing short form. Wrote a short film a month ago and am now addicted to the punctuality of it all. Get me in. Get me outtttt

I love time loops. I’d love to write a story that utilizes them but I fear I wouldn’t add anything new to the sub genre. It’s just too perfect for themes involving grief and that’s my bread and butter.

Love a good grief.

self care is realizing I want to go back to school and actually taking steps towards doing so. I’ve spent the last four years talking myself out of it. I want what I want.

I feel like this edit is going insanely slow, but also I think I’m having fun? It’s hard not to be inpatient. I want it done but I want it good, I want to speed up but I’m immersed.

I am both grateful and frustrated.

I hate being sick because my brains like “oh you’re sick, we can play video games all day and not get out of the chair” and well. no.

man it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the metrics, writing is one of those things that is insanely numbers driven and I have to constantly remind myself that production comes in all shapes and sizes, that a value isn’t the value, etc.

but inversely I’ve retained where I was going/world building and mythology and characters. I know this place, these people, but it’s been a while and I need to get caught up.

having a not so great memory is kinda awesome for writing. I’ll return to a project from years ago and have a genuine audience-like reaction to it. The “who wrote this?” is like a dopamine hit for me—I DID?

Art does not get easier the better you get at it.

Making art is hard. Making art is fun. Making art frustrating. Making art is passion. Making art is a lot of blood sweat and tears.

And I love every moment of the process.

So when someone who is uplifted by a community/career built on creativity telling us to “just accept it” my answer is this: I refuse! What a way to make a room full of people instantly lose respect for you :)

And I’ll say this: I don’t want to be a negative person but I will hold my ground that AI has no place in society. I’m not interested in debating this. I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.

He had the gall to mention it “won’t take your job” and I’m like I’m not worried about it taking my job I’m worried about it devaluing my hobbies and the crafts I take so much joy in.

this man said that his “AI hot take” is that AI is inevitable, it’s not going away and we have to “accept it.” And I just kinda shut down, because how are going to just say that to a room full of artists?

I went to pretty well established conference for writers recently and something a panelist said really bothered me.

This picture I took on my phone in real life looks like AI and it’s making me so mad omfg. My bad. I just used the portrait mode and my room is insanely yellow this time of day.
