Fit for Purpose? How Today’s Commercial Digital Platforms Subvert Key Goals of Public Education Digital educational platforms have become ubiquitous in American classrooms, with tools like Google Workspace for Education, Kahoot!, Zearn, Khan Academy, and many others now structuring curriculum, i...

Say it often, say it loud:

"Overall, research has not supported the common-sense presumption that digital approaches to schooling are better than non-digital alternatives. At the broadest level, widespread computer use in education has been found to be associated with lower student achievement."

Withholding an endorsement for the Democratic nominee for mayor in your own city is bad enough, but then issuing a glowing press release praising the corrupt incumbent no one likes? All while doing fuckall to stand up to Trump?

I swear, he's got the political instincts of an Amish child.

What people should realize about "breaking up the MMR vaccine": Standalone shots for measles, mumps, and rubella are no longer licensed in the U.S.

So convincing parents to demand "separate shots" will lead those parents to a dead end ... because their doctors can't currently provide those shots.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

Reconstruction of Yunxian 2, identified as an early member of the Homo longi (Dragon Man) lineage.

This group also contains other Chinese and Denisovan fossils. Phylogenetic analyses suggest heidelbergensis, neanderthalensis, sapiens and longi lineages all originated more than 1 mya.

Gold standard science requires gold standard scholarship Scientists often casually refer to research and “library work” as separate endeavors. Research involves the execution of experiments in the laboratory whereas library work means finding references to ...

'Treating careful scholarship as somehow less important than the acquisition of data can adversely affect the reliability of the scientific record & consequently, the course of science. Yesterday's Tylenol press conference was at "inject bleach" levels of insanity, but it also revealed the plan for cancelling the MMR. Here's how I think this is going to go down.
