Not sure about exact reason. But the way it seemed to worked is that studios could pick one or more chart (if they didn't feel like doing their own mixes). Nelvana for example chose Cartoon Colour Company and added colours from Taiyo Shikisai and Hanna-Barbera chart.

(For this I've used scans of one eBay seller who sold TON of MOTU and Bravestarr cels. The scans were thankfully pretty consistent in terms of quality.)

BTW, here's my attempt at reconstructing the chart. It's not 100% perfect and it's not complete. Annoyingly there exists official digitized Hanna-Barbera chart, but it's near impossible to find someone in the industry willing to share.

Filmation used Hanna-Barbera chart which is different than that one.

Tones like A3 and B3 were typically for usage in layers so all layered elements appear same tone, due to cels by their nature not being 100% transparent. X marks black. C is a variant for Orange.

Interestingly neither Valk is the early Jetfire model (no armour) so it isn’t a case of pulling an existing model off the shelf, rather someone was deliberately inserting Macross Easter Eggs!

Anyways, that's the end of this rambling wobbly timely presentation.

And in case you're wondering - Shockwave was in another castBUILDING. His death was to be earlier, right after Unicron slammed Cybertron. Well... IMPLIED death. Previous draft of the script showed walls collapsing and crushing him.

Though the bridge was supposed to make one more appearance - the movie. There we were going to see Unicron destroy it.

BUT WAIT! Later on they fixed that! Now other buildings appear properly sized! This is literally the bridge's final appearance BTW and for it they finally set eeeeverything right.

Aerial shot also tries to avoid reverse TARDIS. Of course, maybe those other buildings aren't really buildings at all, but... just not very well thought out.

Especially as "Revenge of Bruticus" goes back to the stone. And again there's an attempt to rectify reverse TARDIS... but the size of two Combaticons just makes EVERYTHING look smaller...

"War Dawn" came and it went straight back to round mega-building. Albeit in fairness there was miscommunication going on with this episode. Just look how bizarrely trashed the interior is. Basically this episode doesn't count. It's a fluke.

In "The Key to Vector Sigma" we see it again, with a seeming attempt to rectify reverse TARDIS... but now the computers are all too big for Decepticons to use...

Still, exterior is set in stone.... OR IS IT?

The reverse TARDIS effect reaches its peak. Now it's the size of a small mega-building (for the record, Cybertron is same size as Mars). All in all, this episode set the definitive exterior in stone.

Till oversized tower pops up... and then it goes off the rails... they show the space bridge... FROM SPACE....

as the episode concludes its size goes wild with the reverse TARDIS effect. First it's much bigger than earlier, but then... for first time ever it's basically properly sized!

Then came "The Search for Alpha Trion". This ep set out to finally put everything to rest. We get an aerial shot. It's not the round mega-building. We also get a clear look at the entrance, the TARDIS effect is still present, but not as bad... HOWEVER....

you could say that the shot lacks the reverse TARDIS effects. But alas...

Anyways, the next time we saw the bridge was in season 2, "Desertion of the Dinobots part 1". Wheeeere they go back to implying round mega-building houses it...

And then part 3 does something crazy. First we've got a pan that implies a different mega building is where the bridge is. Entrance certainly doesn't match up the definitive exterior. BUT THEN... the definitive exterior does show up. Had it not been for the bridge in the foreground and tiny windows,

...the next episode apparently goes back to implying that the round mega-building houses THE space bridge:

Anyways, it wasn't till "Ultimate doom part 1" when they finally showed the definitive exterior, with all its reverse TARDIS glory. Although... it coooould be argued it's a different space bridge because interior is now different. Plus...

Save for "Roll for it". That episode went "Take your pick" with the exterior:

And perhaps that is the reason why they initially avoided showing full exterior of the space bridge. We'd often see the rising tower and surrounding buildings. Albeit it could be argued that they intended the round mega-building to house the bridge as they kept zooming on it before cutting to tower

Take a close look at Decepticon space bridge on Cybertron you'll notice that the glass top with the tower has been pasted on. My guess is that this was originally designed as a launch site for Nemesis in MTMTE. Sadly the revision introduced a reversed TARDIS - it's smaller on the inside than outside

For decades there was a mystery surrounding the name of a TMNT character - the gray rock soldier. It was assumed it was Granitor (I believe the name came from video games) whilst audio version of Archie Comics adaptation called him Morg.

Well the storyboard showed up and it sez... it's Morg.
