I entered my 59th year last week. Told you, that WA sun comes in low and bounces of the red rock and blam... 10 years off. I was sure I was older than you! We would have been doing the same school C exam so something was up with the written component. Oh well... didn't matter in the long run.

It was unheard of for me too, I guess. I changed schools mid year and half the stuff in my School C exam felt like a surprise. Were there separate questions for predominantly Māori schools? Are you not younger than me? I am standing in the golden light of WA sunset in my photo, takes 10 years off.

Was that me? I failed School C English with a 47 or something and they pushed me through anyway. Apparently I freeze at the idea of writing a short Māori fable explaining how some landmark came to be. I was at least a culturally appropriate failure.

Can't go outside in that heat! We have birds dropping out of trees when it gets that hot.

I would like to see local councils in charge of power not private leasing companies... because of rooftop solar. It's a game changer. Middle of the day surplus power is throttled by the power companies. Not stored, not used for some benefactor like hospitals or schools or a desalination plant or...

Australia did that to Kiwis for a while until 1994 when there were all these stateless 20-30-somethings who hadn’t got their NZ citizenship before it expired at 21 and were ineligible for Aus citizenship.

How easy is it to convince people that someone else in their community is the problem as they take away rights and services? We see it repeated everywhere and people still go along with it. Straight from the fascism playbook. We don't seem to be getting any smarter on this.

Oh well, guess we'll get them from Europe. Mostly they are European co. anyway or source product from Europe like estrodial from soy grown in India, refined in Switzerland. Can't use US soy, too many pesticides due to it mostly being grown for factory farmed animals, 1 reason why we don't take meat.

I made 8 beds today. My fingernails are soft from bleach from bathrooms, kitchens and loos. I wonder, 'might I be more successful, if I'd had a wife?' Then I remember there's absolutely no reason I should be successful in any way now, why do people even like my books? Is this a tragic short story?

When people say ‘it’s getting a bit much’ in relation to others reclaiming their rights, I just say, ‘I disagree, society is a pendulum, push it too hard one way it swings back too hard the other. It’ll settle if you leave it alone.’ Some people don’t seem able to sit with a moment of discomfort.

The rich need low paid desperate workers to stay rich. It’s part of the machine they control. Which is why low unemployment is bad for them. Workers start asking what they’re worth or go elsewhere. Shareholders profits are used to pay those workers. It’s in their interests to keep people desperate.
