They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.

'Washington Post' editorials omit a key disclosure: Bezos' financial ties Three times in the past two weeks, editorials at the 'Washington Post' failed to disclose that they focused on matters in which owner Jeff Bezos had a material interest.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

Itโ€™s corporate greed. Itโ€™s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

I cannot tell you how many tech journalists at prominent media organizations do not understand this

Opinion | The Thread Tying Together Everything Trump Does

This is by Ben Rhodes, whom I really like. It's free, in case any of the 20 or so followers of mine who aren't bots or catfishing accounts want to read it. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/26/o...

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I know we got here by 40 years of Republican planning & Democratic politicians failing to see the danger mostly because they have their own billionaires telling them what to do but how the hell do we regain control? Oh, also a public to numb to pay attention to creeping fascism

Again, the problem is that Democrats treat the Republican Party like itโ€™s normal, so via the transitive property, it makes Trump normal too. If he were really dangerous, our whole system would treat him like a threat, right?

Regular people have values and a belief they're part of something larger than themselves while elites became elite by not having that

If a temporary resident of the White House can totally demolish the East Wing to build a gaudy ballroom, without any authority, approval, or regulation, he can tear down the rest of the White House to build a Walmart. That this destruction is allowed underscores how off the rails our country is now.

Sign in the bakery section of a Whole Foods Market, with yummy-looking cakes and biscuits in a case:
"DEFLOURED
Defloured 6" Cake
$27.99"

I assume they mean gluten-free, and it's not a typo.

Don't know why I put in the apostrophe after parents, but it obviously wasn't necessary.

I remember listening to soundtracks in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a little kid in my parents' living room. I know I listened to My Fair Lady and I think I imagined the characters from the show were in the room with me. I also remember listening to Annie Get Your Gun and West Side Story.

I never saw that cover before. This is the version of the album that my parents' had.

I think he does those things because he realizes there's big bucks to be had in being the "reasonable liberal." That's also why, years ago, he promoted Paul Ryan as a budget guru, even though anyone with half a brain or a non-conservative ideology could see Ryan was a fraud.

Conversely, during a stint as a business reporter at The Indianapolis Star in the 1990s, a friend and I noticed that some things that piqued editors' interests but seemed not worthy of a story to us were things editors had seen on their drives to the office.

Lots of US companies have done lots of dreadful things to Americans. But the symbolism of paying to destroy the White House is hard to top.

This guy's base is made up of people who soiled themselves repeatedly because somebody took down a statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest.

"The entire East Wing of the White House will be demolished" is something no American should ever forget.

That there's no way to prevent it speaks to the utter weakness of our leaders in Congress and at the local level. Clearly, laws were broken. But no one is willing or able to enforce them.

Easy.

Fetterman was born to wealthy Reaganites and, through a privileged upper-class Republican life, ended up gentrifying a small poor community in Pittsburgh where he was an anti-Black assimilationist "white savior" racist as well as a sexist and homophobe.

Always has been.

Tom Carter: It is no coincidence that the Leo Supreme Court is made up of extreme right Catholics, that Project 2025 is run by Opus Dei Catholics and JD Vance is a recent convert to this militant anti-Pope Francis branch of Catholicism.

Amazon controls over a third of the global cloud computing market.

Its customers include Capital One, United Airlines, and the US Army.

Today's outage should be a wakeup call: Dependence on a handful of powerful corporations is a threat to economic and national security.

The Wall Street Journal editorial page has been a cesspool of disinformation since at least the days when it was run by Bob Bartley, who received a Pulitzer Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom from George W. Bush for his efforts to drown America in a sea of bullshit.

I was just commenting someplace else that it goes back to Goldwater opposing the Civil Rights Act. Nixon followed by embracing the so-called southern strategy and then Ronald Regan set the Republican Party on the path of fully subsuming the Confederacy over the rest of the 20th century.
