Seems the NYT does more editing of its employees' social media feeds than the words published in its pages

Imagine being the New York Times and having Jamelle Bouie on staff โ€” by all accounts, one of the best in the business โ€” and censoring him because he correctly told people you sourced a Nazi for a political hitpiece.

yes. they literally blame higher education for a social order that doesnโ€™t give unquestioned deference to people like themselves

But the right wingers who voted Trump because they love slurs and hate trans folks? Well the party really needs to do some soul searching to figure out how to reach those folks.

โ€œModerateโ€ Democrats will call students and Muslims who didnโ€™t want to vote to fund war crimes in Gaza โ€œideologically pureโ€ or โ€œgeopolitically naiveโ€ or โ€œshort-sighted, single issue voters.โ€

I was watching A Complete Unknown and made a joke that Bob was โ€œonly paying $150 a month for that apartment.โ€

He was actually paying closer to $70.

Barnes & Noble owes its entire existence to a customer base that still enjoys physical copies of books and media, and yet they put the worldโ€™s most annoying stickers on top of every item they sell.

Do you see how โ€œ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ you get what you getโ€ when it comes to voting doesnโ€™t seem to inspire folks to vote? Trump ran three times in a row, won 2/3 of those times, and won the popular vote for the first time in decades. Centrism isnโ€™t a winning strategy.

12.05.2025 18:30 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I think itโ€™s ok to make voting against war crimes and the mass death and suffering of children your only issue, even if it doesnโ€™t impact you personally. Why does the left always have to give up their positions?

12.05.2025 18:26 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I donโ€™t think you can decide how Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims more broadly choose how to react to war crimes. All Harris had to do was say โ€œI will not continue Bidenโ€™s policy of funding Israel war crimes.โ€ Thatโ€™s not an impossible standard.

12.05.2025 18:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I mean maybe it should have, but it clearly didnโ€™t work. Turns out telling people Biden was fine only to yank him months before was bad. Campaigning with Cheneys was bad. Ignoring Gaza was bad.

12.05.2025 17:47 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The base doesnโ€™t turn out because thereโ€™s nothing to come out for. โ€œBetter than Trumpโ€ doesnโ€™t motivate people like โ€œradical change to help everyday folksโ€ does.

12.05.2025 17:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

What Democrat *hasnโ€™t* been painted as a big government type? What can they actually say about AOC that they already havenโ€™t said about Biden, Harris, Obama, or the Clintons? Meanwhile, she excites the base. Who cares what the GOP thinks?

12.05.2025 15:24 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Why not? People forget all the experts โ€œknewโ€ that Obama could never win a general election.

โ€œKamala Harris would have been a DEI president, but the wrestling lady, the Kennedy who (unfortunately) survived the lobotomy, and Oprahโ€™s diet pill doctor are the qualified people we need to save this country.โ€

We donโ€™t have to take these people seriously.

I sincerely cannot think of a less provocative, less trolly thinker than Yglesias whose whole thing is mostly just to insist that obviously true things are in fact true.

I canโ€™t prove it, and Trump cut all funding for this kind of research so I never will, but there is a direct correlation between the popularization of e-scooters and the break down of society.

We Replicated Trump's Napkin Math on Tariffs โ€“ It's Worse Than We Thought The emperor has no clothes. We breakdown the miscalculations behind Trump's tariff plan that might crash the global economy.

I replicated the first 50 countries reciprocal โ€œtariffsโ€ with a simple calculation. Thereโ€™s no way they used the formula they said they did.
