Digital driving licences to be introduced this year
The government says technology should "make people's lives easier" but any system won't be mandatory.
What a contrast to the way "digital status" was imposed on migrants. The Home Office version of digital proof is a severely flawed and disempowering online process.

About 1 million people in UK yet to obtain eVisa days before deadline
Physical residence permits proving right to live and work in Britain will cease to be valid at end of December
The Home Office continued insistence that eVisas "cannot be lost, stolen or tampered with" is gaslighting those whose eVisa works one day and breaks the next, taking months to fix.

Revealed: ministers to postpone full shift to eVisas next month
Exclusive: fears that UK residents could be stranded abroad due to system glitches prompts rethink
We're worried about how a botched roll-out of the e-visa scheme could impact thousands including people in our community leaving them stranded abroad.
We agree with @the3million.bsky.social: we need to #FixTheDigitalStatus

Revealed: ministers to postpone full shift to eVisas next month
Exclusive: fears that UK residents could be stranded abroad due to system glitches prompts rethink
BREAKING: Ministers are postponing the full shift to #eVisas, acknowledging the system is flawed and may have devastating impact, leaving UK residents stranded abroad.
We welcome this decision, but too much remains unclear. We urgently need a public inquiry π§΅π www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Yes just read, still reeling! Would like to know HOW they will postpone at this late stage. Will they direct carriers to accept expired documents? Will they change Carriers Liability? Will everyone have kept their existing BRPs/BRCs?
Wish they'd listened to us 4 months ago when we first wrote...

Congratulations to the fantastic team at the EU Rights & Brexit Hub! As Charlotte stressed, we cannot take any rights for granted, especially with the government disputing that the EU Settlement Scheme confers Withdrawal Agreement rights. Grateful to collaborate with you on holding power to account!
